Does the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame really matter?

Just heard Rush was passed over for the 11th year in a row. At this point I hope they never get in, since they're still a working band and probably the longest-going with the same lineup. The Van Halen induction was a total circus. And Kiss is just now getting in? Kidding me? A few years ago my boss took our crew to the RnR HOF when we had a business event in Cleveland. I thought it was grossly overrated and overpriced. I don't recall seeing a single mention of Led Zepp. The only display that even remotely got me excited was seeing Keith Moon's drum kit. I swear, the Hard Rock Cafe in Manhattan is a far better shrine to the real legends of rock. The Guitar Center in Hollywood ain't bad either. Rant over.

OK, I want to rant, I went to Borders again today and orderd a Javanilla drink, once again the girl asked what size, I said small, she said we don't have small, only MEDIUM and LARGE. If you only have two sizes and one is smaller than the other, how can you have a medium.

no.

it is the only thing on earth more full of crap than the grammys.

Racerbvd 09-27-2009 09:38 PM

It hasn't mattered since they started over looking Rock bands and putting rappers in:mad:

Look at how long it took them to let Lynyrd Skynyrd in:eek:

Run DMC before Rush! What's the world coming to?

HardDrive 09-27-2009 09:51 PM

80% of the music I listen to is electronic. I could give a schit less what dinosaur crap is in the Rock and Snooze Hall of Fame.

I love my grunge, early punk, some metal, The Who.....but who cares about a 'hall of fame'? What a gay ass 1970s concept.

Fine. The existence of the RNR HOF in no way denigrates other styles of music. But it should also not include other types of music. About the only thing Run DMC has to do with it is their Walk This Way video with Aerosmith. I really think the RNR HOF exists to help boost tourism in Cleveland, where I'd never step foot if not for my job.

Who cares about the Hall of fame.. maybe the artist but regular people won't care at all. I don't think I've ever heard from a friend talk about the Hall of fame. Maybe it's just for the media.

emcon5 09-27-2009 10:43 PM

I can't remember where I heard this, (It may have been Howard Stern), but it seems accurate:

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is just the Hard Rock Cafe without the burgers.

Axeman 09-27-2009 11:23 PM

No it doesn't matter.

azasadny 09-28-2009 03:21 AM

The Hall of Fame is completely irrelevent and is simply a "marketing and sales" gimmick...

Eric 951 09-28-2009 04:38 AM

Madonna is in the ROCK and ROLL HOF.

There's your answer

Dave L 09-28-2009 04:56 AM

do any "hall of fames" matter? There are always those that shouldnt be in but are and those that arent in but certainly should be. I think they are all a waste of time.

Jeff Higgins 09-28-2009 05:43 AM

It's all about marketing and politics. If it were otherwise, they would've let Pete Rose in by now.

Whenever I see that I purposely order the small.

And RRHF is not relevant.

VINMAN 09-28-2009 09:18 AM

Negatory!

Is this the same "rock and roll" hall of fame that inducted madonna?

It could hardly be more of a joke.

sammyg2 09-28-2009 10:49 AM

The ventures were inducted, that was cool. Couldn't care much about the rest.

Oh Haha 09-28-2009 12:03 PM

Nope, doesn't matter, IMO.How long did it take for Van Halen to get inducted?

Rubbish, if you ask me.

This, my friends, is the only reason the RnR-HOF matters at all... Tourism Dollars!
