				Audi TT question

OK. So I have checked every Audi site on the web out and no one in the history of Audi TT's has changed thier own wheel beearing. I cannot seem to get my axle out of the hub to pull the bearing does anyone else have a TT and has done this before have any advice for me?

P.S I hate Audi forums, these people dont know how to check thier tire pressure without asking first. Thanks Bryan |

Look on the VWVortex technical forums. Your car is effectively a VW Golf in a pretty dress so the procedure should be the same for a VW of the same year.

The fronts can be a pain to get out. Sometimes you need a hub puller look it up on line basically remove the axle nut and install the hub puller and it will push the axle out. I have had to resort to heat a few times. If you have to go this route make sure you remove the ABS Sensor and wiring so that they don't get damaged.

The two best Audi forums are:

Audiworld Quattroworld Most of us old Audiworld regulars have defected to Quattroworld. Check either site for the TT forum, then remember that search is your friend. quattroworld.com Forums: TT Mk1 And you can also check your local region on those sites for others in your area that might be able to help out. quattroworld.com Forums: Central Being a long time Audi nut, I can tell you that these are the best places to find the answer to any Audi question

No Answer either just that one of the reasons I bought my SC was this site.

Good people. Also the VW peeps VWvortex are very good about helping out and information etc. The M3 Forums makes me want to light my BMW on fire and push it off a cliff, although it is a perfectly good car....

				Audifans is your friend

You need to post your question to the audifans mailing list. This will be by far the best and most helpful. Many mechanics and highly motivated and competent DIY'ers follow these lists.

you can sign up for the list at Audifans. there are a couple of lists, the "quattro list" and the "s-car" list. I'd post your questions to both. I've owned 5 different Audis and have had an amazing experience (much like this forum) with the folks on the mailing lists over at audifans. Good luck. --- Tom '75 targa |

VWvortex Forums: Main My daily is a MK3 VR6 Golf (very similar to the MK4 platform up front). I changed the front wheel bearings about 4 years ago. The hardest part was get the stub axles out. I had to remove the entire assembly from the car and use a hydrologic press to get them out. It's not as bad as it sounds as you can leave the brake callipers in place and undo the CV joints at the gearbox. Then remove the shock absorbers, springs and lower A arms... Steering rods and it's out. Pic of my car when changing the brake pads because you can see most of what's involved. I also have a Bentley manual for my car and that makes everything that much easier.
