Its a 64 356C, ad says surface rust...car appears to be complete. And for how much?

It certainly has surface rust. Right around each rust perforation hole. A better question is, how much metal is left holding the front and rear halves together? ;)

masraum 10-01-2009 03:23 AM

That looks like a lot of car compared to what some folks have "restored".

URY914 10-01-2009 04:26 AM

Is that the good side of the car?

javadog 10-01-2009 04:31 AM

No.

Is this an auction? I would take a closer look at the 914 further down the line.

dewolf 10-01-2009 04:41 AM

That is perfectly do-able. We (Porsche owners collectively) have to start looking at ourselves as custodians of these old beauties before there are none left. If my kids weren't taking up so much of time I would gladly take the time to restore something like that.

dad911 10-01-2009 04:57 AM

Would I buy it? No way.

Rot 911 10-01-2009 05:35 AM

It is restorable, but for what you would pay for the restoration you could just buy a 356 someone else has already restored. I have been watching the 356 market for years and in 2008 they stopped their upward climb in price and have been holding steady.

Shuie 10-01-2009 05:48 AM

Someone will buy it and restore it. If I had the skills, tools, and resources to do it, I would.

speeder 10-01-2009 06:57 AM

That's a really soggy car. Unless garden variety 356 coupes became million dollar cars while I wasn't looking, it would be cheaper to buy a mint/dry car for current market value and enjoy it. Even restoring dry cars is a ridiculous amount of time/$$/energy if done right. I can't imagine welding new chunks onto a soggy lunch pail like that. To each their own, I guess...

island911 10-01-2009 07:21 AM

Just open up those 'lightening holes' and rattle-can it.

btw, 1964 was when God and Porsche rested.

Hollywood will buy it for $10,000, Bondo-it, shoot a coat of paint on it, and use it as the sacrifice car in some movie in place of the protagonist's cherry 356... it'll go off a cliff somewhere.

porsche4life 10-01-2009 08:38 AM

If you absolutely wanted to build one maybe. It looks pretty straight other than the rust. I'd get under it though...

tabs 10-01-2009 10:13 AM

I purposfully showed the bad side..the rest does not look like swiss cheese.

I have no real way of looking at the car unless I want to take a LOOOOONG Drive...

The 914 is a 74...

tabs 10-01-2009 10:15 AM

BTW real close to me is a 66 or 67 911 coupe...I can't get real close to the car but can tell by the muffler its a 911.

Schumi 10-01-2009 10:28 AM

I want one in the future, but not to restore like most do... I have more evil intentions.

Did anyone see last month's Excellence? That 930 powered 356 brought forth primeval desires.

Fishman7 10-01-2009 10:36 AM

Looks like the car is in Missouri, am I right?

tabs 10-01-2009 10:55 AM

yep

Schumi 10-01-2009 11:00 AM

Where at? If I'm close I may be able take a gander for ya.
