Mustang driver chops off his pinky

Well it all started on a Beautiful Thursday evening. I was off work and I finally found the time to work on my Mustang's suspension. I was just so bothered by the fact that H&r sport springs just suck.. It was causing my passenger side to sit higher than my driver side. I just wanted my damn car to sit level damnit.. On top of this frustration I was extremely thirsty and aggravated, because I was on time constraints. I had to be back at my apartment 35 minutes away for my 8:00 AM math class. I was fortunately at my parent's house at the time of the accident. So my car was jacked up and I had a troublesome strut bolt. It just would NOT come out. So I knew whenever i finally did get the bolt out the weight of the arm, rotor, caliper, and the compressed spring would throw itself down in a very fast and violent motion. So I jacked up the arm by the rotor.. BIG MISTAKE! What was I thinking!?!?!

If you've ever changed your springs before you can probably piece the rest of the story together. Well the damn bolt wouldn't come out still. So keep in mind the jack is on the rotor. I stick my pinky in the hole and I got the bolt out! Hell yeah!!!!!! Well my moment of rejoice turned into a nightmare in less than a second. SCWACKACRACK! .....The rotor slipped off the jack and I am in a state of total shock. What just happened? Is this pain i'm feeling? I pull my finger out and blood is just squirting out my pinky like it does in hollywood and getting all over my car and it surprisingly was shooting out at a quite the distance! I stood there for about 7 seconds trying to register what just happened. Suddenly something said, "CHRIS YOU JUST CUT YOUR F**KING FINGER OFF... DO SOMETHING!". So i run in the house cover up my now severed finger with paper towels tightly and scream to my mom to rush me to the hospital. This happened so fast there was blood all over the walls from me running in. We ran towards the garge left everything. I pinked up my finger... You wouldn't understand the trauma of this. I'm holding my own damn finger. We rush to the hospital and make it there in about 10 minutes from when the incident occured we would have made it there faster, but some fkin' itiod decided to go 30 in a 45. I wanted to beat this guy into a coma with a sledgehammer. If someone wants to pass you. Let them they could be in my situation.. Anyways we get to the hospital the lady puts my pinky on ice. They call in a orthopedic. He throws a fit and walks out the hospital leaving me.. helpless. So the nurses dip my finger in sodium chlorate. That **** hurt more than the damn amputation. I was in tears. The amputation I was like.. not. So I had to leave the hospital and drive back to my town (Huntington) at 7am that morning.

The doctor couldn't reattach my pinky. I only lost the first digit. What I mean by digit; hold up your left arm. Look at your pinky and it's above the first line; the one closest to your fingernail. So it's not that bad.. I'm right handed btw. I was surprised however that the amputation really didn't hurt.. I just remember pulling my hand back and saying, "Ow! ..that really f**king hurt" and looking up only to say, "Where's my finger?". That scene justs keeps playing over and over in my mind. It's very psychologically scarring. I'm currently out of work and on good pain medication So moral of the story... Safety should be your number one priority and accidents happen when you least expect them too.

That stinks. Even missing the a small fraction of the small finger will take strength out of your hands. Sounds like it got squished real good, otherwise they should be able to put it back.

There is a good warning to the wise here with this statement "On top of this frustration I was extremely thirsty and aggravated, because I was on time constraints."

The only time I hurt myself working on projects is when it is late in the day, and I am tired and in a hurry to finish. Best just to set things aside, and relax. Or if you are having a problem with something- like a stuck bolt- just walk away, and attack it again later.
