windows movie maker to windows media player

i have gotten a new camera to do in car filming and have been able to import the video from the windows media player format into windows movie maker for editing and such. i have been able to save the edited clips in the movie maker format but can NOT get them back to the windows media player format to get them to you tube or the like. i get this error message when attenpting a right click, and going to the "open with" function and trying to open with the media player

Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The file is either corrupt or the Player does not support the format you are trying to play.

dont get how the media player will not accept a windows movie maker saved project??? any help? i have also tried renaming the saved MM clip with a .wmp name to no avail. i also tried to upload the movie maker clip to you tube and it would not accept that format. help??!!

Edit and Save

Import the file (from the source/camera), then pull it down to the storyboard area - from here you can splice (shorten the clip or add another file section).

Once you get what you want on the storyboard click "file" and "save movie file". That will save it in a format recognizable by Media Player and other video players.

Good luck,

Gordo
