LOL, have you seen the Cayenne and Panamera?

svandamme 10-07-2009 12:05 PM

well, yeah, that IS point exactly, it's a photoshop based on those 2 cars.

The initial Panamera pictures that came on the net didn't look anything like what it looks like for real now they actually build them. It looks to heavy, unbalanced lines when you compare the front with the side profile.

It's supposed to be a baby Porsche, or whatever you wanna call it, and the front looks like it came from the Biggest vehicles in the current line up.. It don't make sense.

I'm pretty sure Porsche will give it more thought then some Internet Photoshop Jockey does.

And i'm equally pretty sure those pictures did not come from Porsche, they would not release such a thing A Until they are closer to production B with such poor background and floormirror effect.

They didn't with the Cayenne or the Panamera, so why start now?

svandamme 10-07-2009 12:29 PM

Sigh.

The 911 isn't as fat nosed as the Panamera or the Cayenne.
The Boxster and Caymen are even less heavy looking up front

http://imp.porsche.com/filestore.asp...iletype=normal

So if the Baby Porsche is indeed smaller, you'de think it would lean more towards the Boxster or Caymen up front, then towards the Panamera or Cayenne.

So as a hatchback, that yellow "Demo" looks interesting, But that second picture doesn't.

But since neither you, or me, have inside knowledge about what the designers will do, i guess all we can do , is guess...

An my guess is , that it doesn't make sense to have a fat Cayenne/Panamera style nose, when they intend to put it out there as the baby Porsche, below the Boxster and Coxster.
And this must be a Photoshop Jockey that probably won't have spent as much time coming up with that result, as the Porsche folks wil spend.

That's because the Panamerica and Cayenne have a harder time meeting the Euro pedestrian standards. You'll recall that they have the engine up front, and the 911's is in the rear.

svandamme 10-07-2009 01:17 PM

good point, but, screw the pedestrians, i don't want them scratching up my future company car

They need to go retro throwback with a newer 944 variant. Hell even keep the front engine/rear transaxle. Use a cayman transaxle and a VW turbo 4 cylinder. Win.

What I would like to see is a cheap, light and barebones 911, maybe underpowered with a VW 4 banger for $20k, where you could swap the engine for an old air cooled flat six ;).

It's called a 912E

Well here you go then.

I posted this in another thread already—but this car looks pretty fine to me.
