My condolences Dottore....
If your father had a will, I would cross reference the items listed in the will versus what is in hand. This would give a clear indication that he intended someone to have the item and that it should still be present. Also, just check out the local pawn shops over the next 3-4 months to see if anything pops up. We had been burgalrized once and a good portion of the items were recovered from various pawn shops. I also agree with the guys about talking to some of his close friends to see if your father gave them anything or mentioned giving some items away to others.... |
Sorry to hear of your loss. My parents are getting on now and I know it is going to be a hard thing to deal with when the day comes.
Is there any possibility that your dad moved some of these things for safekeeping? Perhaps another search of the house while the housekeeper/caregiver is there. Just explain that you're looking for these things, no accusations... |
Dottore,
Sorry to hear of your loss to you, your mother and your family. |
Man,...................................so sorry for your loss. Then only to find out material things of value are missing.........................*****y. We needed a caregiver for my Dad a while back. We initially went with a 'for hire' service because of time and needs. The caregivers them selves were ok. One or two pretty good. It was the service that started to pad the time plus questionable billing practices.
We decided to hire someone on our own to control expenses and increase the quality. I interviewed many candidates. Once we made our final choice I performed my own extensive background check; to include any criminal activity including a credit check. With this particular person we interviewed three seperate times before finally deciding she was the one. You can not be too careful. |
Sorry for your loss. This is a tough one.
I think you need to make sure that this person doesn't rip off the next family she is recommended to. |
if the thief's gave your dad a smile..made him laugh..
well spent.. if they stole.. karma will rule.. sorry for your tears.. I would pass .. Rika |
I hate to let things go without at least some effort. But only you can tell how much or how little effort will ease the pain.
Does your locality have pawn shop regulations that require ID from the customers? Most do because of the obvious fencing risk. If not, you are SOL. If so, make a list as accurate as possible with the fullest descriptions you can obtain and delivery in person copies to all of the local pawn shops. mention that you are opening a criminal case against the caregiver (this does not have to be true). You might just get a pawn shop owner who wants to avoid trouble and gives you the evidence to go to the police. Sorry for your loss and the additional pain of theft. |
