site slowness -- just me?
Anyone else a computer/web guy?
I'm happy to offer what help I can but IIS isn't my area of expertise. Now if Wanye's open to porting the forums to linux I have some ideas... |
Seems fine here. I'm using FireFox.

Don't even go there.
Works fine for me. |
I've already had the Linux debate with Wayne. Won't work.
We're having our first real rain in 5 months, could be screwing thing up a little... |
It's been sporadically slow for the past few weeks for me, but now it's responding well...
|
I am getting about a 50% error rate with PHP messages. It seems like the site is on multiple servers, and when it hits one I get a PHP error, I refresh and it works fine.
Message below: PHP has encountered an Access Violation at 01D043D3 |
Same error here.

That's just what I'm seeing -- sporadic access violations/unresponsiveness. Refresh sometimes solves it, sometimes doesn't.
I imagine Pelican's spending a heck of a lot on bandwidth to host in-house. Only reason I mentioned Linux was because there are so many good, cheap Linux VPS solutions which in total likely cost less than just the incremental forums bandwidth. Alright, said my piece. Regardless of OS do we/Wayne know if the site's network/memory/CPU/disk bound? That'd be the first step, if it's worthwhile to continue down this road... And Wayne, if you're listening, I'd be happy to drive to California to trade computer work for a suspension refresh :) |
