It's raining in LA today.
The CHP reports that as of 6 am there has been 189 traffic accidents. Yesterday there where 19.
Who else leaves their Porsche safely tucked away in the garage while all the morons panic and run into each other?
Storm watch 2009 has begun. Let the media frenzy commence.

Yes, my 911 is always tucked away inside the parking garage when it's raining..
can't say the same about the wifey in the Lexus though, I'm always nervous when she's out driving...especially in the rain :rolleyes:

Big rig overturn closed the I-5 at my on-ramp today. I decided to "work from home". As you can plainly see.

My son took the Santa Monica bus home and walked the mile or so to our house, gasp, in the rain!
He said most of his friends Mom's or dad's where picking them up at school or the bus stop.
He knew better than to ask for a ride but he did ask if he still had to cut the lawn when he got home. Even though it is an old style non power push mower I am giving him the afternoon off

total over-reaction as usual, I'm surprised they didn't issue a mandatory evacuation for half a million homes. villaragoza should have been all over that.

1/3 of an inch here and 68 degrees, I'm still wearing shorts and flip flops (on vacation this week).
I did put the cover on the pool tho.

I live right off thde old pasadena race, ah fwy. whenever it rains or just a little mist in the air, you could bet on an accident somewhere on that fwy. When It rains, I don't get near it. I try to tell my wife who has to drive our little ones around to stay off it. She just doesn't listen.

Seriously Steve have you ever had to push a rotory mower thru wet grass? It's near on impossible. You can't be that cruel.
I saw several news vans driving up and down Tajunga Canyon yesterday evening looking for the mud slides. Around 9:00 they all converged on El Pollo Loco in defeat.

when i lived in So Cal i knew to stay off the freeways...of course i also knew that a little rain wont melt my car either.

Those No-Gruppe guys are tough! I'd love to meet some of them, but no one knows their names.

I took my car out today purposely in the rain. Once this morning and then again in the afternoon.

I love the rain. Sliding around turns, splashing in puddles.
Porsches and rain are fun.

My loaded, stakebed, work truck and rain is not fun.

Here in the Carolina's, we had several years with very very little rain. This spring the storms finally hit, I'd being going south from a race track on I-85 and see all lanes at a complete stop on the other side when it was really heavy. Every other car had their hazards on, some where stopped under bridges(I guess they had leaky roofs), and all kinds of crazyness. 55-60MPH on decent tires would of still been possible if people knew how to drive and see in the wet. I will admit though, that time I saw the oncoming traffic at full stop, my car was losing grip at 60MPH. Thing is though, I know its momentum will keep it going straight when I hydroplane, I downshift for a little rear wheel drag if I need to, and the banking on the interstates can still keep your car turning even when the grip disappears, so long as you aren't speeding. If don't think the banking is sufficient, I lift a little just in case. If I feel no confidence in the drivers around me, I slow down to their speed and leave a very nice distance until I feel I can safely move around them with several lanes between me and them. It was crazy though, I'd never seen the like with what the thunderstorms where doing to traffic. I can totally see how LA would have that many wrecks jump!

In NZ people drive as fast as they can in the rain, ummmmm, because it's dangerous and they want to get to the safety of home sooner?

I started yesterday morning in Cambria, it had rained all night there and it rained on me until I got to Orange County. Sure makes for a long drive. The sun always shines in OC.

It's been raining in Raleigh since Monday night, usual fender benders from drivers not paying attention.

Better then FL when you are driving 70 MPH on the freeway and suddenly hit a wall of blinding water without warning.

New Mexico was the same way with hail and downbursts thrown into the mix.
