wtf is wrong with people?

A bunch of middle school kids light another kid on fire. Sick little punks...

Deerfield Beach teen set on fire: Five youths arrested in burning of Deerfield Beach teen -- South Florida Sun-Sentinel.com

Hard to comprehend.

Deerfield Beach is the Watts of Ft. Lauderdale.

Are we clear?

I think an interview with each child and each of the child's parents would answer a lot of questions...

People aren't born hateful.
It's learned.

So is apathy.... we have a lot of both in society today. The kids were undoutedly from a relatively low socio-economic environment... and South Florida... what is it with South Florida?

If you watched the interview with the mother of the victim it was actually very poignant... she started talking about how the violence is permiating throughout society and our youth and we are all just spectators not wanting to get our hands dirty and she began to plead... for society as a whole... not just her ravaged son.

I don't want to go back to being apathetic... it turns my stomach... we all have a dog in this fight.

Here in Deeetroit we had a mother who hid a gun under the hood of the family van so her son coulod grab it and shoot another kid who had "wronged" him in a pick up b-ball game. He kissed the target and shot an innocent bystander instead.

Nice.

Very True. It's a zhit hole.

Restrict possession of swiss army knives and take away other liberties. It is irrelevant when the players lack respect for themselves, others, and society.

No it's not. Not even close.

My mom lives in Deerfield Beach.

Deerfield borders Boca.

Lauderdale is 3 towns away.

What are you guys talking about?

In the 20 years I've been going there I've never felt anything remotely close to that.

Having been burned badly..
this kid has hell ahead of him..
me, upon recovery I would waste everyone of them..
and it would not be quick..

South Florida is weird... you have to realize its highly localized. You can be in an amazing nice neighborhood with good people, clean streets, and good kids. Then you can drive 5 minutes and be in something resembling hell.

My cousin lives in Deerfield. The part she is in is pretty nice, very much a suburbia. But man, there's some bad parts too. Just stay out of them.

The cage is getting too crowded for the number of mice.

OK, I'll correct that. There are red lights I won't stop at on A1A in Deerfield Beach.

There are red lights I wont stop at in Watts. 3 miles away is USC.

People burned a guy sleeping on a park bench in Vancouver, last week.
Not the first time in this
town.

Life for both, or the death penalty. There's no way you can rehabilitate these two. They're the human equivalent of totaled.

Denver Jarvis, 15, Jeremy Jarvis 13, Jesus Mendez, 15, (the one who actually set the fire) Steven Shelton, 16, and Matthew Bent, 15, burned the boy in retaliation. Punishment. A premeditated attack.

Why? because they tried to steal the boy's father's custom bicycle and he told on them.

They are thiefs who got caught and as payback they burned the boy.
Nope, ain't gonna blame anyone for this one except the no good low-life punks.

I'd start with an eye for an eye. Let's see how much little mendez likes being burned.

Rikao4 10-16-2009 07:49 AM

burn was VERY painful..
recovery..you wish you had died..
folks I barricaded myself in my hospital room..
2x daily debridment treatment's for weeks..
they can only give you so much for the pain..
it didn't touch it...
he's not out of the woods..
it's the infections/ organ failure that kill you..
