Where the Wild Things Are

Anyone planning on going to see this? This was one of my favorite books as a kid (still have it). I will be giving it to my sons when they are older. As soon as I get back home I will be going. My SO refuses to see it because she is freaked out by talking puppets and things like that.

For what it's worth the Washington Post (DC) gave it the best reviews I have ever seen from that critic.................................most of the time he poens anything entertaining...................so I'd give it a whirl !

I saw it a couple nights back. I wasn't familiar with the books before I saw the movie and can only say I was dissapointed in the movie by itself. Perhaps if I was familiar with the books I'd have a better opinion.

... you were thinking it was going to be more along the lines of 'Girls gone wild" ?

yeah, I would be disappointed then too. :D

It was the eminent childrens book for the Gen-X'ers, ask me how I know.
I have high expectations of the movie.

Taking my favorite young plaything to go see it at her request. I swear the title sounds like a porno.

Definitely my favorite book to have Mom read to me when I was a little tyke.
I was pissed when I heard that it was being turned into a movie, but after seeing a few film clips I cannot wait to see it.

Wasn't it like a ten page books with only a few words on each page? Didn't it take about 60 seconds to read?

Yea, it's like making a full feature movie out of Green Eggs and Ham. Not sure how that works.

Dave Eggers did the screenplay. Has anyone else read -A Heartbreaking Story Of Tragic Genius- by Eggers? I stumbled into it and liked it---reads like Bill Bryson and Peter Egan mashed up together. I'm guessing his role keeps this interesting for adults as well.

I think my expectations were a little too high.

So may we surmise its not R rated and you'll be buying one adult and one child ticket?:D

m21sniper 10-16-2009 04:12 PM

Actually she qualifies for an adult ticket, but just barely. ;)

Hahahaha.

slakjaw 10-16-2009 06:57 PM

I just watched it. it was......... very abstract and random. Very weird.

azasadny 10-17-2009 06:08 AM

I never read the book (too old), but my wife is a schoolteacher and she hates the book. She said it's very dark and lacking any positive features, and she likes almost every kid's book!
