OVO by Cirque - Coming to a town near you . . .
OVO is Cirque du Soleil's latest show. This is a traveling show & they set it up in a parking lot in tents for 3 month runs. It is geared toward the corporate crowd. The best seats ($250) are part of their 'Tapis Rouge' experience which gets you into a private tent for pre-show & intermission. All on corporate charge cards of course. Free champagne, wine & edible tidbits that hang from trees etc. Plus free gifts at the end. An insurer comp't my wife tickets.
The common folk get the poorer seats & a food court tent with popcorn & dogs for purchase. ![]() These Asian girls are amazing - photo scanned from the program. ![]() This bit involves a rock wall & trampolines & is probably the show's highlight. They started this in Canada & soon it will be opening in San Francisco, San Jose, Philly, NYC etc etc. Go if you get the chance to spend somebody else's money. It is a great show. Ian

It actually is an entertaining show. It's about the world of bugs. But basically it is circus performers (and very good ones) with great costumes & music - a live band does the music for OVO - doing what circus performers have always done but with more flair. I have also seen Love in Vegas & it was a very different show.
The key difference with this one is the corporate marketing angle. The Tapis Rouge (red carpet) is being sold to corporations for them to use as bribes/thank you's to their customers. It looks like it will tour all of the major markets in the US over the next 24 months sucking in corporate spiffs. Guy Laliberté is a very smart marketer. He is also a Focal owner btw (in his house in Henderson NV). And yes, he got a deal. We also just installed a pair of our new big guys in his sound studio in Montreal. Ian

Art, I think you would be really surprised if you went to a Cirque thing. The "tent" ones can't match the Vegas ones, but they're still very impressive. If you hate theater (which I do), you would still very much enjoy a Cirque du Soleil.
