I saw it on the news at the gym. WTF.
Kid must be scared out of his mind. Some "balloon expert" on the news said he was staying just under the clouds which were ~10,000 feet. Temp up there is about 40F. They think when the temp drops, so will the balloon. Question is will the boy be alive when the thing comes down. Helicopter can't get close to rescue him because he'll get sucked into the rotors.

This thing is not meant to carry a person, it was going to be some kinda weather balloon contraption for the stormchaser dad. I've heard reports that his older brother was the one that actually untied it. They're used to dad's "toys" and probably didn't have any fear of it. I'm not sure I'd be ragging on the parents just yet.
I've also heard one report that he's not even in the thing. It appears to be structurally collapsing as well.

The child is not there. I don't have audio, I'm not sure what's being discussed. The airship had a decent sized tear in it when it landed.
