All car's have their heritage tied to something. The 928's basic layout is the same as the American Pony car, does that mean a 928 is a Pony car (V8 up front rear wheel drive)?

I thought it was the "Swiss Cheese Catalina"'s that had that layout. Looks like Sniper hit a direct hit on a nerve.

Tempest (I think). Design was done under DeLorean.

Part of the reason for the rear transaxle was to be able to use some parts and geometry of the Corvair tranny. It had IRS unlike the Buick and Olds versions.

The driveshaft was curved and flexible w/ bearings, but seemed to work fine.

Not the 'Swiss Cheese Catalina'. That was just a lightweight full-size Catalina. It had a solid rear axle/diff with front tranny.

I doubt there will be an entry priced below the Boxster, unless the Bluesport comes to market. It has a projected price of $30k. Speculators said it could be the next 914.

The 928 was the first car with passive 4 wheel steering. So it has that going for it at least. ;)
