Question Seller story's, whats the biggest line of crap you've ever heard

I normally approach people as a regular buyer but I due the ground work and really know what I'm looking at but people see you as a dupe and try to take advantage. Quite often I will ask goofy questions just to see the response from the seller, I want to gauge his knowledge and honesty. I've heard so much BS over the years it makes me laugh.
Some examples are
- been told that a high rise intake was a blower
- 3/4 cam always breaks me up
- fuel cell that was a gas tank
- its fast, 140mph with 3 people in the car, it was a 6 cyl. duster
- just serviced, dirty air filter and black oil/sludge
What's your favorite line of crap and did you call the loser on it?

I had a guy with a stockish NSX tell me his car did 200mph at a car show once. I called BS on him and made him look dumb, but in retrospect it was a waste of time, i should have just shook my head and walked away.

"It's never done that before."
or
"I had no knowledge that that was an issue."

True story:

I was living in San Diego, 1985 or so. I was looking for a 912. I answer an ad in the Union and agree to meet the seller at the parking area at the base of the Coronado Bay Bridge, just in front of the toll booths.

I was already waiting when the guy showed up...by the sound, I know right away it isn't a 912, definitely a 911.

He gets out, we shake hands. I walk to the rear of the car, sure enough, there is a "912" badge on the engine hood.

I open the hood...2.0, purring away.

"This is a 911."

"912", he says.

"A 911 is worth more than a 912..."

Pause. I'm not buying it now because who knows where this thing was spawned.

"More?"

"Yes."

Idiot. We soon part.

Test drove a used Corvette that pulled badly to the right.

Slimeball salesman: "They do that on purpose in case you fall asleep at the wheel, the car will go towards the shoulder instead of into on-coming traffic"

I pull over, get out of the car, and see the Right front tire is very low.

"No thanks, I think I'll just walk back now."

... or "pilot owned."

"Rust free" is the one that gets me. I once flew from Atlanta to Miami to buy a rust free 911. Before it had even stopped at the curb I could see the rust.

my favorite I heard recently was:

'Oh, the whole pop-off valve and Carrera chain tensioner update(s) are blown WAYYYY out of proportion.. one or two people on the internet have had issues and all of a sudden if these things aren't done then everyone thinks these 3.0L's are ticking time bombs. These updates are absolutely not necessary."

The guy was a total douche who was obviously trying to unload his future problems on someone else. I hope his airbox explodes.

+1 and big time.

If it just needed a charge, why haven't they taken care of it already to reassure the seller it really works?
