Does This Story Bother Anyone Else..Possible False Rape Accusation 40yr Sentence
This story...really really upset me today...and has been on my mind all day...
A test of convictions - CNN.com http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/10/26/....schen.jpg.jpg Is this a case of: 1) False accusation and target due to race 2) Lack of finances equating to less than equal opportunity in the (unjust) Court System 3) The inadequacy of the Police system The fact that the report and article talks about "We get about 200 to 300 new letters a month" from prisoners who say they've been wrongly convicted, says one attorney at the Innocence Project, a national nonprofit that works to exonerate the innocent"... had me pretty upset and distracted most of the day..how do these people falsely accused go about seeking recourse...it says in the article that most falsely accused spend 12years before they are freed...12YEARS! That is close to half a normal working person's career. Sigh in disappointment. Your thoughts... Yasin |
It is a difficult situation. Eye witness reports are so variable. It is hard to refute a woman pointing at a man and saying "that is the man."
If your sister or mother pointed a finger and said to you "that man is the man that did horrible things to me" would you believe them? DNA can prove innocence and yet some women really honestly believe the evidence must be wrong. I don't know the answer. We sure can't release the accused just because they claim they are innocent. DNA was not available back when many men were convicted. The trials of today should insist on real DNA evidence if any exists. What if that DNA evidence just does not exist? |
Cmon down to TX. Seems they are releasing someone daily.
