USC ranked #5 in BCS, but not for long

BCS has USC at #5, the other polls have them at #4, but I'm going out on a limb and predicting that they will lose to ore-E-gone on Saturday.

Hope I'm wrong but they just don't look that good this year.

thinkfloyd14 10-26-2009 03:59 PM

1. We haven't lost a game with Barkley at QB. Barkley is a true freshman.
2. We are gonna beat Oregon.
3. Florida and Texas are WAY overrated.
4. The BCS is bullsh**t

Fight On.

I agree that the BCS is useless, but why do you think Florida is overated??? I'm not trying to stir the pot (honestly) but who do you think should be in the top 5?

I think USC has a great team and deserve a top ten ranking, but if you want to talk about being overrated then you should talk about the commentators overselling USC, specifically the QB. I was watching the USC game this weekend and I heard them talking up the freshman QB for Heisman.....give me a freaken break! If any freshman QB deserves an honorable mention in regards to the Heisman, its Tate Forcier.

BTW, I think Texas is WAY overrated too!

Go SC....

RWebb 10-26-2009 07:13 PM

they are playing UO at Autzin - that always adds a little zing

LWJ 10-26-2009 09:12 PM

Go DUCKS!

Moses 10-26-2009 10:13 PM

USC hasn't won a game in the state of Oregon since 2005. It won't be any better on Halloween.

BRPORSCHE 10-27-2009 05:09 AM

GEAUX TIGERS! Even at #9 I still think the tiger's have a fighting chance.

edit: Now I am not bashing USC, I think they are a good team, but how on earth are they ranker #4-5 and can't even beat unranked washington? Crazy.

The washington game was kind of a fluke. The new offensive coordinator had his head up his butt and his play calling was no bland and so predictable, everyone watching the game knew exactly what play he was going to call next.

SC had an untested QB who had recently been demoted for no reason, so he was trying too hard to regain respect and that hurt his performance. He didn't play well.

I'm a huge SC fan but their defense this year just isn't anywhere near as good as it has been in recent years.

BTW, IIRC LSU squeaked by Washington 31-23, with a last minute TD to prevent going into OT. That was their first string QB in the game.
How do you think it would have turned out if LSU had to play that game without their first string QB? ;)

BeyGon 10-27-2009 06:58 AM

I think USC is saving up for next weekend. People and plays just for Oreegun, they didn't need to show them the last two weeks. If the officials are fair it will be a good game. USC will win.

I'm hoping you are right but I'm skeptical.

madmmac 10-27-2009 07:41 AM

If Oregon gets up early by a couple of TD's it could end up being a blow out. USC has little heart when things are not going their way and Oregon loves to really open up their offense if they are up by a couple.

Oregon has better defensive backs and can cover man to man. Oregon will be blitzing Barkley(I like him) often and from multiple formations. He will throw at least 2 interceptions and be hit like he has never been before.

It should be a good game. Oregon wins.

stevepaa 10-27-2009 08:06 AM

I am rooting for my two favorite teams

Cal

and the team playing against USC.

onewhippedpuppy 10-27-2009 08:14 AM

EVERY year this cycle repeats itself. USC starts out with a lot of hype, then loses to a crap team. We then spend the rest of the season listening to the pundits making excuses why USC really is the best team in the nation. C'mon people. If there are other teams that play legit schedules and don't lose, they deserve a BCS title game spot before USC.

BeyGon 10-27-2009 08:14 AM

USC is usually a good second half team and they have been preparing for this game for A YEAR.

RWebb 10-27-2009 08:17 AM

Oregon's D. may still be w/o its 2 Sr. cornerbacks - they could not play against the Fuskies -- you could see the problems, but they still had enough defense to mess up the very good UW QB.

Oregon's QB, Masoli, is back, and of course "thumper" will not be in the backfield.

USCs outstanding frosh QB gets better game by game, but... he's still a freshman.

Some of those teams with x wins and 0 losses will change, then USC just might move up. After a win in oreegun this weekend.
But, who cares, they will play in the Rose Bowl.

Florida is over-rated because they schedule division II-A teams to play against (Charleston Southern and Troy). Florida is getting very good at playing to the BCS.

Is USC ranked a little high? I think so but then again I really don't care what happens in the BCS....I just wished it went away. Who knows....maybe it will: Playoff PAC

Oregon THRASHED USC.

It was a miserable broadcast. Brent Musberger had trouble speaking with Pete Carroll's dick in his mouth.

Cha-ching. Surprised that Oregon did not blitz more, but they really did not have to.

Too many offensive weapons and a game plan that simply overwhelmed USC. Their defense was gassed by the no huddle offense.

Beautiful blowout.

in August onewhippedpuppy asked:

So Sammy, which team will upset USC this year? I can't wait to hear Herbstreet explain why USC is still the best team ever, despite being beaten by Stanford.
My reply was:
Dunno, but it'll prolly happen on Halloween.

Yeah, but Washington beat you to it.;)

Things are about to get interesting in the SEC. Not that any of the SEC teams are very good, but LSU could end up knocking off #1 and #2 by seasons end. I'm fairly certain they are going to take it to Alabama in Tuscaloosa next weekend, then if they can skate by Arkansas, they go in and knock off an overrated Florida in the SEC champ game. Bye bye SEC, no championship game for you this year.

Hopefully Iowa can win out and college football fans all over the world will get to see the Hawkeyes play best team in the nation, Texas, for all the marbles.

And since Texas has been two teams that were ranked in the top 25, you think they're #1????? What a joke!

What happens if Alabama and Florida both win out, and go into the SEC Championship game ranked #1 and 2?

And then that's a very close game.

Would they play each other again in the BCS Championship game?

No. Texas would play the winner of the Bama v Fla. SEC championship game in the BCS championship game. However, I'm not convinced that LSU wouldn't jump over all the zero loss teams if they win out. Just have to believe that the pollsters and CPU will do the right thing for zero loss teams, especially if it's Iowa. In that case, if Iowa wins out and doesn't go and LSU does, all hell will break loose and the death of the BCS is on.

sammyg2 11-02-2009 06:42 AM

LOL, I'm a big USC fan but when I discuss football, I try to do it objectively. I look at facts, I try to analyze the teams honestly. Even if it means saying something negative about a team I like.

Lots O'fans make statements teams based on emotion. Some times I feel like I'm in the minority but it seems like it might be a cultural thing. maybe that's what being a fan is all about, I dunno.
Smaller towns or areas in the country where college football is more prevalent or more important to the fan base seems to breed more emotion. Heck in Knoxville, saying something logical or honest (and negative) about the vols might get you strung up.

Shuie 11-02-2009 06:47 AM

LSU is not going to win out. I keep hearing people talk about it, but I can't believe anyone honestly thinks they have a chance of beating Bama, Arkansas, and then Florida. It wont happen. I do think a one loss SEC champ would still play in the BCS title game, tho.
