My friend has a cat not all that different from yours. The cat only comes in to eat. During the summer the cat will stay out for 24+ hours. It is also not an overly friendly cat. In fact, I wouldn't miss the cat if it went missing. I can't even pet the thing without getting my hand swiped. I guess it is more friendly to mom and dad, but no one else.

I believe the breed will determine some of the behavior. Maine Coons are my favorite breed. Very pretty cats, well behaved, love people, and have great personalities.

If you really want a more personable cat, you could probably get away with getting another cat. The other one is outside so much it probably won't even notice!
