I wouldn't touch any barn find MKI or MkII - just too much money to put right with a low value after.
If you decided you really like the look I would go for a MKII, more elegant in my option and just a much better car, especially after '66 with all syncro gearbox and excellent parts availability. Here's my driver level MKII which I have driven extensively over Europe and now in the US. And once you get them set up and tuned correctly they run so smooth and powerfully, with a sweet and powerful straight 6 and excellent suspension for it's time. Out of curiosity anyone know what a set of those knock off wire wheels go for?
Have a full set of 5 in 13" with the hubs taking up space. Need chroming though. |
I've always liked the Jag Saloon Cars. It'd be worth it as a personal project. If you're into it for profit, not so much. Add a partner?.....forget about it. BTW, is it LH or RH drive?

We've been together now for 18 years, she really doesn't get as much use now as before and deserves better. I've often thought about selling, but this is the car my wife and I toured in England while dating and in France when I proposed to her. |

Not as cool as an xk120 or xk150, but still, so much more personality than anything currently in production.
I'd love to have a decent driver. |
