What's up with American Chopper?

Junior starting his own shop? WTF? Isn't that the epitome of killing the golden goose?

I mean, I have zero respect for Thing 1 and Thing 2, but they made a ton of dough "crafting" choppers for TV, IE: "Now that we've finished the bike, we'll take it apart and send it out for paint and chrome"

Junior is not a serious builder, he's a cartoon. JMHO

Is that show still on? I can't even remember the last time I watched that. I wouldn't want to pi$$ the old man off, he's a biggun.

Is that OC Choppers? I loved that show. We haven't had it out here for a few years but I loved it and good to see the guys fabrication skills.

On the April 9, 2009 episode of American Chopper, following a disagreement with his father and partner, Teutul's employment was terminated. They attempted to resolve their disagreements, and he returned to work for OCC. The April 30, 2009 episode reveals that Teutul ultimately decided to voluntarily terminate his employment as a full time member of the staff.

In subsequent episodes, Teutul has returned to OCC as a consultant, helping with bike builds when his father is away from the shop, and on builds that need extra man power. In addition to his new role at OCC, Teutul also explained that his ultimate goal is to open up his own design firm, as well as assisting his girlfriend Rachael in opening up a boutique in Montgomery, NY.

I pretty much stopped watching after the second season. By that time, it was obvious that Paulie had run out of ideas and the business was growing into a big caricature of itself.

They moved it to TLC a few years later, I assumed to die a quiet death.

Part of me thinks this whole thing is staged to try to drum up ratings.

Huge new building and operation right off the NY State Thruway. You could buy Montgomery, NY with the cash they are spinning off.

Otherwise, who knows. Got to be tough, being all over TV like that.

The new season started last Thurs. (I think) but looks like Mikey has left the shop too...

American Chopper Season 6 : Videos : TLC

A soap opera for men.........Damn, this part don't fit, get me a bigger hammer.....

nut11 10-29-2009 12:26 PM

On HD Theater now. I think show follows GT Racer or Chasing Cars. Saw big Paul last week at a local dinner near their Taj Mahal in Newburgh, NY. Just minding his own business. Don't watch show anymore.

I used to watch it... I stopped watching when every episode became an advertisement for the "corporate bike" they were building that week. Gillette chopper? Gimme a break...

strupgolf 10-29-2009 01:52 PM

A bunch of dickheads arguing with each other every week and building some bikes. Boy, that's some exciting TV. I haven't watched that s*** for years.

Some cool ideas, but like hell I would ride one of their bikes down the road. Scary lack of engineering prowess.

You laugh, but it is brilliant marketing, I mean, Snap-On gave them a bunch of tools, maybe paid for the bike and got millions worth of advertising. Like American Shopper or not, they are cleaning up on just T-shirt sales, those goofy sunglasses that Paulie always wears (and not sold at Home Depot) free high end equipment fot building a bike.... Ya, those guys are laughing all the way to the bank...

No doubt about it. Sure makes for lousy TV though...

924slover 10-29-2009 03:29 PM

They don't BUILD bikes they just ASSEMBLE them they're a bunch of no talent loser's that need anger management. I haven't seen one bike roll out of there that i would ride.

Nathans_Dad 10-29-2009 03:29 PM

Paulie never beat the web bike. I think that was in season 1. The rest are just gimmicks.

+1

Saw them at Daytona a few years back. Big Paul was nice, if you could call it that... Little Paul was the complete epitome of Dick!
