Wow! How about those umpires?
 

This World Series has the potential to go down inhistory for the wrong reason. The umpires have been making some brutal calls right thru the playoffs and now into the series.

Hmmm. Well, there was the non-call on a pitch that hit Brandon Inge’s jersey with the bases loaded and the scored tied in a one-game playoff. And Joe Mauer’s would-be double that landed about a foot inside the line but was called foul. Plus that time Jorge Posada and Robinson Cano were both tagged off the base during the ALCS but only Posada was called out. Oh, and when Nick Swisher was thrown out and called safe, then left on time during a sacrifice fly and was called out – that was Doublemint fun. Can’t forget Ronnie Belliard clearly being tagged out and ruled safe. And two poor calls at first base against Boston in the ALDS. To come full circle, Utley fouled a ball off himself (dead ball), ran it out and got beaten by the throw to first anyway (out) and was declared safe.


Time to mitigate human error and bring the red flag to baseball.

CB Buckner, (strange to know an ump name) is the worst. I have seen him blowing calls for years. He had two in on inning during the playoffs.
For the WS they have an experienced crew but still missed the trapped ball in the 7th. It was a difficult call but I was suprised that all the umps missed it.
Alot of folks are calling for instant replay but I am against it. Last nite was a good argument for it, however, if the ump thought the ball was caught and raised his arm indicating an out this then affects the rest of the action by the players. It would be a whole nuther can of worms trying to decide what the players would have done if a correct call was made on the line drive.

Was a very good game, i figured the Yanks would win game 2. They simply couldnt afford to go down 2-0.

There were 2 blown calls in the field, but they balanced out. The strike zone for Ryan howard was the size of montana though. He "Struck out" twice on pitches WAY outside.

Oh well.

Phillies go home now where they are 11-1 in the Playoffs since last season. I stand by my prediction of Phils in 5.

I think phils in 5 is a bit optimistic. These are the yanks. It has been a reversal of what I expected though. The yank bullpen has struggled and the phils have pitched well. As an astro fan, I know of B Lidge and his erratic big game performance. Will it surface again? Tune in tomorrow.

Brad Lidge is perfect as a closer in over 2 seasons and 5 playoff series for the Phillies. His ERA?

He was for us as well. Lights out in fact. Until Poo-holes jacked him up in the playoffs here.
I was pulling for the yanks last nite, hoping for a game 7 as well, then I'll put on the phils hat.

What do you think about NY closer Mariano Rivera being used in the 8th and 9th? NY did this in the ALCS as well and I thought that by game 3-4 the Angels saw so much of him they started to figure him out and his pitch count climbed as a result.

Poo-Hooos doesnt play for the Yankees. ;)

I'm really looking forward to the games in Philly.

The phillies had 3 base runners against him last night and got robbed on a double play that ended the 8th inning. He is clearly a legend, but at age 40 he is just not what he once was. And he had to throw a ton of pitches last night.

We'll see what happens, but i found it interesting that the Yankees needed a near perfect performance just to win a close game. I feel like the Phillies have a clear advantage in this series, so now i just have to sit back and see if i'm right. :D
