Michael Jackson's This Is It
Anyone else gone to the show yet?
I was never a huge Jackson fan, I liked Thriller and his older stuff, I think the only album I owned was Thriller. Anyhow, the wife and I went to go see this movie tonight and I must say it was pretty amazing. I came away with a few impressions: First, that guy was NOT sick in any way. At least not physically. He was dancing like crazy. Second, damn he was a talented dude. Every song he sang sounded like it could be coming out of the radio. I'm not sure if they overdubbed vocals or not, but I didn't hear him off pitch one time even during a walkthrough or a sound check. Third, everyone around him was a huge kiss ass. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, he is Michael Jackson after all, but it makes it all the more plausible that he got a doctor to give him propofol to sleep at night. The guy could say the sky was green and every person in that crew would agree wholeheartedly. Fourth, I wasn't planning on going to that concert but man it was going to be a hell of a show! Really impressive. |
my wife will drag me.
i am not even curious. i liked him in thriller alright. i have not really kept up with his "manifestations", but i always felt he just recycled the same dance moves. most dancer/singers bring new moves to the table, and wow the audience. did MJ moonwalk in the movie? i should probably shut up, i cant dance for crap...i still do the "lawn sprinkler" on the dance floor :) |
Alright... Your man card... Hand it over...
|
LOL, you'll never get my man card!
Unfortunately no moonwalking, maybe he was saving it for the real show. There is a full uncut run through of Billie Jean though, pretty impressive stuff. My favorite song from MJ is either Smooth Criminal or Don't Stop Till You Get Enough. |
. . . wouldn't walk across the yard to see this.

I gotta say, as weird as he was, 23-24 years ago, my wife and I went to see him at Dodgers Stadium on his "Victory Tour" we mailed in ticket applications from the LA Times and for something like $20 each we randomly got seats that were about five rows from the stage on the field, center. The people next to us paid hundreds per seat. The show was fantastic. Why a handsome young black man would turn himself into a middle aged white women is beyond me.

Sad that he found the company of young boys better than adults as he could have had anything he wanted. Would not pay 2c to see this and the sooner he is out of the limelight IMHO the better. |
Hey, are you going to be in London next week or not?
|
Time to pass folks...Anyway, he was seen with Elvis in a fishing boat south of mexico...JFK was the captain.

The man was a sick, disgusting piece of human ****, i would never give him a single red cent of my money. |
i wont go see it because i do not want to give my money to the jacksons.
i never liked him anyway. the ONLY reason i would see it is because i would like to see the behind the scenes stuff, the creativity of putting a show together. i was one of the sounds techs for my church. we use to have a lot of bands come in, we have a 2000 seat church with the biggest stage here in myrtle beach. i enjoyed sound checks more than the shows because a lot of the times the bands might just jam for a while. thats when a lot of their creativity comes out |
Never a big fan myself, but went with the g/f yesterday.
Have to say it was an incredibly entertaining movie. Sure...didn't dig the kiss ass stuff either, but the music was out of this world. Sound system was great in the movie theater. Knew almost all the songs. He was a seriously talented singer/dancer/entertainer....no matter what his personal problems were. A genius in the musical world for sure. The backup dancers and musicians assembled for this were the best in the world. If you can get past your hatred, preconceived notions, etc. I'll think you'll be very surprised. Close your eyes if you must....but experience the soundtrack. Visually impressive as well. I give it a 4 out of 5 stars for sure. IMHO obviously. And no, I'm not turning in my man card. |
Saw it yesterday also. At 50 years old, he could still put on master class in dancing. Say what you want, but the man was a heck of an entertainer. Very intersting to see how they put things together as well.
