I was just thinking about you guys yesterday :( My addiction continues with little effort to stop, I slow down for 3 days with lots of water but I'm back on the coke again:rolleyes:

exitwound 11-20-2009 06:33 AM

I went cold turkey killing my caffeine habit (coffee). After a few days, I was fine. It's all about determination and will. Carrying a bottle of water with you and having it at arms reach at all times is a good start. If you don't have to get up to get a new soda, just reach for the water.

porsche4life 11-20-2009 07:03 AM

I prefer coke zero to DC.

I must admit that I am already on my second coke of the day. And I got up at 830.

juan ruiz 11-20-2009 07:10 AM

Second !! Its 11.00 am, I had 2 cans of 12 oz and 2 bottles of 16oz:(

Aspertame, the silent killer, is prohibited in Europe, for children's products.
Monsanto, the owners of nutrisweet, were caught bribing medical officials in Canada.
No thanks.

berettafan 11-20-2009 07:35 AM

creature can you give us some links on that? might help reinforce the issue.

am on my 3rd 20oz water right now after only 1 20oz dp this am. fighting a headache as i didn't have a ton of dp yesterday either.

berettafan 12-08-2009 04:19 AM

Update:

Am down to 2-3 diet pepsi's per day. Key is to refill my morning 20oz dp with water the rest of the day. My morning dp still tastes like heaven but the rest of the day...well they're getting less palatable.

dad911 12-08-2009 05:05 AM

I drink alot of seltzer. It's just carbonated water. Sometimes I add a splash of cranberry juice for flavor.

berettafan 02-02-2010 04:08 AM

Just had a visit to the doc yesterday with a sinus infection. Blood pressure was way down!!!

I don't look like a million bucks just yet but the biggest benefit of all has been realized!!!

Have been walking 1.5 miles at least 4 days a week for about two months now as well.

Small, sustainable changes seem to be key for me.

juan ruiz 02-02-2010 04:37 AM

I'm failing :( my goal was to stop Dec 31 2009 and here we are in Feb 2 and I continue to struggle with this, however I'm down to 4 maybe 5 a day and I'm not drinking any after 6.00PM little changes that I hope will help me kick this habit

Google "aspertame Rumsfeld"

Guys... look at yourself here! You are ADDICTED to this crap!!! This is what the makers want to happen to sell product and could care less about your health.

Drink iced tea, water or something but this crap that is sold in plastic bottles at every store is designed to do one thing, drain your pocketbook of money. Its making a profit for the maker and thats it, period.

If you NEED your second soda by 8 AM YOU ARE AN ADDICT and you need help! There is no difference between this and a needle in your arm. Does not matter which substance you are addicted to, or how you take it.

Sit down and realize that this substance has control over your life and deal with it. If you cannot do it yourself, get professional help. In the end it will do something to your life and NONE of it is positive.

URY914 02-02-2010 05:37 AM

I kicked the D Coke habit and went to ice tea. MUCH cheaper and better for you.

Rot 911 02-02-2010 05:45 AM

One of the benefits of being in the hospital for 6 days was kicking the Diet Coke habit. I am sitting here at my desk with a glass of water and don't even miss it. I might have a Diet Coke when I go out to eat, but for some reason, it doesn't taste as good as it used to.

Mind over matter. Just say no. First few days are hard. After that, it's not so bad. I did it with caffeinated coffee. Everyone around me had it so it was impossible not to smell it and crave it. After a few days, my own decaf satisfied the craving of a warm, steamy drink in the morning.

LWJ 02-02-2010 08:02 AM

THIS thread caused me to kick a DP habit. None since I read the first post. Yes. I drink coffee. And I have had a few regular Pepsis since but the habit is gone. Good riddance! That crap is tomorrow's cigarettes. I tell you, there will be lawsuits and all kinds of health info coming out about how bad this stuff is. As you know, there is no louder singer in the choir than the newly converted. (that would be me)

No thanks.

Aspertame is an outrageous drug. Google it if you have any doubts.

You have to have be brain-dead to put this into your body at the rate of several cans a day. Can you say "junkie"?

And this in the land that is fighting the "war on drugs", where you're not allowed to see a tit on television, and can't drink a beer until you're 21?

Nucking futs!

I used to work with an ex-ballerina who was a total Tab addict - she saved the cans and had an entire wall of them stacked along the hallway next to her office - totally pink.
