Bribery Scandal Taints Dog of the Week Contest! Gasp!
 

In the great scheme of things, this doesn't even make the radar. But of course since my dogs are affected, it's made mine.

Apparently the leader in the Dog of the Week contest (by nearly double the next closest contestant) is running their own little contest, offering a prize to people who report that they had voted for...their dog. When I saw their vote count double overnight, I Googled "vote for theirdogsname" and there was their contest. And the 2nd place folks, who were in first until the side-contest started, have figured it out as well, and written an email reporting it to the sponsor of the contest. Apparently this is a violation of the contest rules.

In the end, no matter who wins, a shelter somewhere will get a free dog bed and that's a good thing. But the "scandal" just leaves me shaking my head!

Meanwhile, I am dutifully casting my daily votes for Rosie & Tess! :)

Yes, it says 1 vote per ISP per day. I saw some folks post that they had rolling ISPs and could reconnect and vote several times. Not that I would suggest such a tactic.

Voting ends at midnight tonight. If they address the "scandal" the 2nd place dog may take the prize. But the gaps are huge - 950 votes for P1, 550 for P2, and we have 245 at last check.

The contest sponsor has declared Sheba the winner, with close to 1000 votes. Sawyer (dearly departed) was P2 with around 500, and Rosie & Tess came in P3 with about 250.
