My wife died

First and probably only time poster here, but long time prowler of the forums. I guess it's never really been my outlet, or I just don't spend enough time near a computer to be too involved.

Yesterday my wife died of a heart attack. It was completely unexpected. She wasn't overweight, in fact, I thought she was pretty fit for a woman in her 50's. Today I woke up without a wife for the first time in 27 years.

I hoped to not be in this situation for years to come, or I always thought maybe I'd be the one to go first.

I just wanted to say this. If you are a lucky enough man to be receiving love from a good woman, you make sure to appreciate her and take care of her. Life is too short. Find her and love her. What I'd give if I could have another day.

Sad news indeed.

Stay strong, talk to your family or whatever support you have often. Crying and depression is normal, keep that in mind when it seems to be consuming you.

I have a lot of patients who are widows/widowers, and am told you don't get over it, you just get to where you don't think about it all the time. Had one man tell me that even years after he lost her, he would walk into the kitchen in the morning expecting to see her.

To me, it would be like cutting off your arm or something to lose a spouse like that.

So sorry to hear.

I would be lost without my bride.

Stay around and let us know how you are doing.

Wow. Very sorry.

Be glad that you found "the one" and got to spend 27 years with her.

Bob, my condolances as well. Yes, your post reminds us of what is really important. It's selfish of me, but I cannot imagine life without Cindy. Therefore, I hope I go first.

As Tobra said...be strong.

I cannot imagine what would be worst than losing a beloved wife or child. I cannot begin to feel the pain you must have. But if there is anything I could do to help, I will be there for you.
