Need a good indep. Audi wrench in San Diego
I'm in SD now and a co-worker's 2000 TT just died. She's getting raked over the coals by the dealer. She said they said it's a clutch thing. I'll know more soon, but she said it made a loud bang while sitting at a red light and then would no longer shift. I'm guessing fork, T/O bearing or such. Anyone know where she can get a better deal on a repair?

Does she have pedal?

She says yes and it feels normal and even goes into gear, but car acts like it's in neutral and won't move. Sounds weird to me and there should be more noise or stalling. Dealer is telling her clutch. I'll talk to them when they call back and get the whole story. But I need the name of an alternative place to take it.

I take my car to All German Auto in Escondido. They will be slightly less than dealer but the quality will be outstanding. I also have contact info for a certified Audi tech that moonlights on the side. Did 60K and the timing belt on my '01 TT. If your co-worker is not in a huge rush PM me for this guy's contact info.

If she is dealing with the dealer on Miramar Road, there is a shop not too far away called August European. They are an Independent that works on Mercedes, BMW, and Audi. They are not cheap, but they are good and they are honest. I have been taking my Mercedes to them for years

Thanks guys. No, it's not the dealer on Miramr Rd. I think she said it's in or near Carlsbad. I'm giving her those two shops' names. I think she's in a bit of a rush. Will post more as I find out what the problem is.

Just do not use anyone named Jimmy.
