Executions on Pay-Per-View, would you watch if the proceeds went to the victims family?

No, I don't think our society needs another blood-sport. It's disturbing enough what you can find online these days on shock video sites: people getting their heads sawed off by terrorists, people killing themselves on webcam, blah blah blah. I think we are desensitized enough as it is. Nobody should get their jollies by watching someone else die....that's messed up

Yup....but like boxing only if the featured victim interested me....prolly get old after a few times unless they spiced it up with pyrotechnics, blood and guts...

Any chance of having the prisoner mauled by lions or a bear perhaps ?? If so I'd pay!
Oh and make it in the summer when there's no football game to compete with the timeslot

I think people on death row should die the same way they killed their victims.....an eye for an eye. Would also make for better Pay-Per-Viewing.:D

Executions should be public, quick, and painful.

Hiding them away completely eliminates any sense of "deterrence" from those who most need it.

Yes, there are humans that shouldn't be. As long as the verdict is correct, it should be done more or less as it is done now (humanely[?], limited public and media witnesses). Not in secret, but not as entertainment/blood sport, either...

Restitution (proceeds) going to the families of the victims may be of little comfort, but would be of some help.....consider it restitution that they'd otherwise never receive.

I've seen it and I'd love to see the John Muhammed get it and I'd be happy to participate. If you lived in the DC area at that time, you'd feel the same way. The stuff that makes stonings in Muslim countries so repulsive is that they're often done to victims and not perps or to folks who who did something pretty minor.

I'll never forget the video that leaked out of Saudi Arabia I think it was where the young girl (maybe 16?) was stoned to death by a hoarde of people, all males... her naked body was kicked and beat and drug around, all completely sickening. Her crime? She was a 'whore' who 'allowed herself to be raped' by a man who wasn't her husband. Right.

The mindset of the 16-30 year old Saudi Arabian male is utterly f****ed. I used to live next to a group of Saudi guys here for schooling. I've never seen people be so derogatory to women, so hypocritical, and so narcissistic, especially with material possessions/ money.

Makes me frustrated and angry that such a people can exist and not have some sense of wrong.

Its deeply upsetting that this question was even proposed. For the sake of argument look at what happens in Malaysia when you get a speeding ticket.

We should have caning here too, since our current system does nothing at all to discourage recidivism and costs eye-popping amounts of money for next to zero results.

It doesn't deter crime in a effective enough way to justify the denigration of our moral and ethical standards. Simply put the end does not justify the means.

I live in Maryland and remember all too well the terror propagated by John Muhammed and Malvo. I was not a supporter of he death penalty before and am not a supporter of it now. I personally believe that death was too good for him, whether it be the painless kind that was administered yesterday or by any other means. He should have been forced to rot in prison for the rest of his life, forced to deal with the reality of his choices.

Does he deserve 3 hots and a cot for life? I think not.

But think of all the license plates he would make...or ditches he could dig. I think prisoners should work. Why do they get to sit around and pump iron, or read books? That's what doesn't make any sense.

Yes, for some people the opportunity to eat healthy, have a place to sleep each night, and be able to read books and be educated is a dream, not a punishment...

I think they should be forced to work off the cost of their trial and confinement. But I'm a radical.
