Die Sears Home Service, DIE.

Rather than retell the story, I'll just let you read the message I wrote to Sears Home Service. Given how they F'd me over royally, I think I was pretty civil.

I hate everything on earth at this moment.

The letter:

On Tuesday, Novermber 10th, at 9:36am in the morning, I placed a call and used your automated system to schedule a repair for our washing machine. A $1600 washer that had quite working less than 2 years after we purchased it. The system told me that an appointment was available between 1-5pm that very day. So I cleared my schedule for the day and waited. And waited. I called the automated system twice to see if it had anything to say, but no, it simply confirmed my appointment.

Finally, after 5 pm, I called and got a customer service agent on the phone. Her English skills were poor, and it was difficult to understand what she was saying. What she explained, was that your 'routing' system was down, and that drivers did not have any information on how to find or call customers. I asked WHY was your automated phone system still taking and confirming appointments, if it was clear the system was broken. The agent was apologetic, but said the only thing I could do was call again tomorrow.

Now to be clear, after Sears Home Services has already cost me hundreds of dollars in lost business, I am supposed to call back, and make another appointment, and pay $119 just for a tech to look at my machine....and that person may never show up?

It is rare that one comes across such a stunning example of a company who has no interest in the customer these days.

If someone from Sears Home Service wishes to call an explain to me what happend, I would be more than willing to listen. But given the treatment I have received thus far, its clear that phone call is never coming.

Very, very disappointed,
Josh Squirrelfondler

Heh heh. Pissed as you are, you still kept the ol' sense of humor.
Good luck dealing with The $hithead$ from $ear$

well who would have ever imagined.. My mother's maiden name was Squirrelfondler!

Customer service seems to be a dying 'art form', I've personally experienced two very unacceptable experiences and one was involving PP. I am still waiting and hopefully it will be resolved without wasting too much more of my time.

A) Why would one buy anything from Sears when every appliance they sell is available for less elsewhere?

B) Why would anyone call Sears to repair anything?

Why would someone own a Pantera, when there are so many cars that perform better, at a lower price point, with less problems?

Why would someone live in Florida, when homeowner's insurance is so low in practically every other state in the union?

Thanks for nothing!

Sold the Pantera for more than I paid.

No longer own property in FL (also sold for more than paid).

Any more (relevant) questions?

We have done pretty well hitting the sales at Sears.

I called them for service because I honestly didn't know who else to call. I'm going to try a local place when I get back from deer hunting. I'm all ears if anyone can suggest someplace in these parts.

Why not order the parts direct and DIY it?

You see...out in the boonies of OK, where you don't have appliance repair guys (or dentists, dermatologists, etc.) hanging out, you typically have no choice but to DIY. However, in the rest of the advanced and civilized world, we PAY people to do things. Things we don't want to do, things we don't have the experience to do, things we don't have time to do.

So...while you're paying the appliance repair guy $30/hr. to repair your washing machine, you can be somewhere else making $50/hr.

We've been Home Owners Club members since 2001, and we've used them for: contractors for home remodeling (kitchen, bathrooms), electrician to re-wire the garage, new garage door installation, and a plumber to unplug one of the toilets after my mother-in-law used it (she uses an ungodly amount of tp).

Seriously, their list of repairmen is the best of the best. Basically any home repair/ remodel you need help with, they have people on their list who can do the job, do it well, and at a good price.

And at $48/year, membership is one heck of a deal.

Now if only I could get a new mother-in-law...

Wow. $120/hr. for a sign truck, insurance and a 4-man crew. That works out to about $16/hr. when everything is done & paid for.

Because it's a $1600 washing machine...which means it is slightly less complicated than the space shuttle....and apparently just as reliable.

Customer service in America has gone down the drain, big time.
