I have a very good friend in Auburn who is an antique gun collector and broker. PM me and I can put you two together. Really nice man and very knowledgeable.

I will send him the pics later this AM and see what he says...

Post pics here and the brain trust there will get you the info you need....

All doubleguns & SxS double rifles at doublegunshop.com. Double Guns, Double barreled shotguns, SxS, Side-by-side, and Over & Under O&U, Drillings, Combination guns, Double rifles, Hunting Guns, Cape guns, Game guns. DoubleGuns!

If they say JABC that means "Just Another Belgian Clunker"

Not much different info from my antique gun guy:

" Well, Mark, 99.9% of these 1850-1880 perc scatterguns are either Belgium or German-made (or the area in between; Austria, etc). This looks like a mid-grade gun and "cottage industry made", so accounts for the lack of a makers marking. By the look of it, I'd guess it to be about a $300 retail gun (on this side of the Big Pond) ...assuming that it is in good working condition and the rest of the gun is in same condition as what's seen here......"

My Uncle was able to take the gun appart...here is what he found.

"Moe, I couldn't take a picture of the stamping that I found underneath the back end of the barrels because the stamping was so faint and my camera settings? The stampings were underneath of course. I took the gun apart thinking the stamping was in the receiver area. But right where the barrels lock into the receiver is where I found: Very faint and with the help of the internet- PIETRO BERETTA, also extremely faint-GARDONE, the numbers "127" appear in three or four places, also "a sideways 4 and a square indent then 4 again upright".

Maybe worth more that $300? I wonder if I can contact Beretta direct and get some additional info on this?

Beretta started out making barrels for others. They continued to do that into the 1900's. More info is needed to find out where it came from. I suggest you contact an antique gun dealer.
Have you tried contacting Tabs here on Pelican?

Any update on this? I can't imagine how this could possibly be a $300 gun.

Never per-sued it with Beretta...but will now. Thanks for the reminder.
