Just returned from Valletta, Malta

Did a european cruise on the Regent 7 Seas, one of my favorite stops was Malta.
I never even realized the important role that this small island played in WWII.
This was the most heavily bombed place on earth, the Germans and Italians never took the island. The Siege lasted from 1940-1943http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1258136079.jpg

It looks like a great place. My father was there as RAF bomber aircrew during the siege in late 1941 & early 1942. He always said that the biggest tragedy of the seige was the German bombing of the island's only brewery. That left only gin & creme de menthe to drink.

This winery we visited is practically right on the landing strip the Germans and Italians tried to bomb, The winery building in this picture was used as the control towerhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1258144505.jpg

Is the blond Mrs. 126Coupe?

I was admiring the architecture of Malta;)

And the rest of you reprobates were thinking the same thing:cool:

The Krauts tried to bomb the landing strip, missed by a mile and a half and the bomb went through the dome of this church, you can see in the photo where the bomb came through. It did not detonate, 300 people were in the church. The picture of the bomb is a replica, but in that other pic you can see the real one. And yes the blond is mrs. 126coupehttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1258145432.jpg
