na na, Mines Smaller Than Yours Is!!!

I had to train our Korean marketing manager today - I went to drop some files on to his laptop one which was a Dell yet a model I have not seen. I pulled out a flash drive I use and he starts laughing.

"Whats so funny?" I said

"Is that your flash drive? It's so big! Why so big?" He says

"Its a few years old but it holds 512MB, why you have something smaller?" I say.

He pulls out something the size of my fingernail.

"This is mine - 2Gig, I have one the same size that is 8Gig." He says

"Dang son! My thumbnail is bigger! You don;t see those in the states, must be a Korean buy huh?" I said.

"Yes, many good products in Korea that do not make it to states for many years." I explains.

I'll say...

One of my vendors last year had "promotional" USB drives, which were 2GB and thubnail sized. I forgot how much he said they cost. They had the company logo on them.

I use a standard size one, which is hard to lose, and it is 32GB

All that shows is that you are not a computer geek. :p

I have an 8GB drive that size that I keep on my keychain all the time. Bought it about six months ago at Fry's for whopping $14. I'm sure they have larger capacity ones available now.

Shoulda compared schlongs with him mike... Surely yours would have been bigger then....

Yes, the (geek) force is weak in this one... sorry Lube. :p

My Japanese colleagues like to play the same game with phones, cameras, etc. Theirs are always smaller. It's fun to show off all the high tech gizmos only supposedly available in Asia. Whatever. (Never mind that most of the real innovation happens in the US, but I digress.)

The "smallest stuff" game comes to and end when you can't make the flash drive smaller than the USB connector. And you can't make a cell phone so small that you have to move it back and forth from your mouth to your ear to speak and hear from the thing.

Other than vanity is there any real benefit for having a smallER flash drive? Like the one you've got is way to big for....what?

They said Betamax was better than VHS because it was smaller. But if you don't NEED smaller.....
