Having installed solid surface tops, the install is EVERYTHING. Absolutely whatever you do, do not trust Home Depot or Lowes to install them. Their subs are the cheapest money can buy, you will not be pleased. You may save up front, but will pay long term.

I am glad to hear that your in-laws have good luck with Corian. I just have seen in in other places and it does not seem to hold up as well as the more stone like products.

Nothing is worse than those 4x4 tiles the builders use. Lots of seams and most do not use an epoxy grout.

Also, installation is everything on these produts. this is not a place to get a second rate installer.

If they hold up in fast food joints, they should hold up in most kitchens. I always ask my clients," What are doing with the tops, dance on them?"

Stone products like granite or man made quartz are harder materials compare to Corian or similar products. So the wear rate should be better or last longer. Corian should last a loooong time. Like anything else, you have to take care of it but there isn't any care but a clean damp rag should do the job.

The best way to clean grout is steam and a stiff brush.
