Anyone here a fan of Dan Brown's novels?

I just finished reading The Lost Symbol & I just find it absolutely amazing that he can make me turn the pages unlike other writers...In comparison, Stephen King's novels (which I loved when I was young) have moments where the storytelling gets so slow & makes me want to skip pages.

Anyway, I have to say that it was a really good read, although I still prefer Digital Fortress & the other Robert Langdon stories.

And one last thing, has anyone here read Deception Point? That's the only one of his novels I haven't read & I wonder what you guys think of it.

I'm not an avid reader but I've read a few of his books, and found them pleasant to read.
Light reading, very entertaining!

My FIL is a huge fan. I haven't read any.

Let me just say this:

My Brown writes fiction. He writes very good, very entertaining fiction. I know plenty of religious people (like my FIL) that enjoy his novels because they realize they are reading some very complicated, often historically-based fiction. It irritates me to no end when people (either for or against) try to take his novels as "fact". Now, I understand that Mr. Brown is often intentionally evasive about the "truth" in his novels. I see this as nothing more than a clever marketing ploy, that works very well.

I read Deception Point. I did not like it as much as A&D or DaVinci Code.

Counterpoint...he's not making these stories up, he's popularizing theories and ideas that have been around, sometimes for centuries. He then adds lots of panache and characters and all of that, but the basic ideas have some legs

I thought "The Lost Symbol" was predictable. Too bad that he hasn't found a way to keep the story moving without resorting to the same tired plot devices. The antagonist, for instance, in the most recent book is about as transparent as one can get

I've read them all. I think they're fun, and really easy to read. That's about it.

I had a history professor go on a tirade of how Dan Brown writes fiction and tries to pass it off as historical fact..I think we all knew he was a fiction writer, but it made her upset.

I'm reading Lost Symbol now, its OK. I enjoyed DaVinci Code and A&D, but didn't like Digital Fortress. Although his stuff about swarms was interesting.

I've read DaVinci Code and Deception Point. Really enjoyed them. Angels and Demons is next on my list when I have another long flight coming up.
