Now that the swine flu is here its not usually going after us old farts but the young kids whose moms bent over backwards to protect. Their immune system is terrible and its now showing.

Yes rolling around in the dirt and sand is a good gentle way to build up the immune system. And sadly for the over keen young moms, the disinfectants are more likely to kill the kids than anything.

Two thoughts.

Everything to excess causes cancer. If you have one cigarette a year, you're fine. Smoke 3 packs a day, you get cancer.

Life is 100% fatal. No matter what we do, all of us die. The trick is to balance the enjoyment (excess) with good choices.

Therefore, unless you are continually exposed to it, I wouldn't worry. Well, I wouldn't worry about everything that can kill you.

By defn, "excess" is too much - that does not mean that thing will cause cancer.

But, as usual, sammy is way off base -- plug aliphatic petroleum distillates + cancer into Google, sammy.

The Purdue Univ. web site is one good source.

Nonetheless, WD-40 is pretty low on the harm list.

I agree it is also pretty low on the list fo thing that are worthwhile to use -- I keep a can in the garage as an "art object" - next to the old oil cans from the 1930s and the Marvel Mystery Oil can...
