Anyone still play NFS Porsche Unleashed?
Way back, I used to play a lot. I haven't played it in many years. I thought about seeing if it would install on my current computer (cheap dual core Dell with 4Gb RAM, standard built in Video, and Vista Ultimate 64-bit). I couldn't find my CD, so I downloaded a copy off of the Internet (hey, I do actually own a legit copy).
I was pleasantly surprised to find that it plays better on this box than it did on my previous XP box. Now I just have to get out my old steering wheel and pedals and hope they work. Playing with the keyboard sucks. I think there was only 1 or 2 times that the keyboard was better than the wheel/pedals, and that was for one or two of the last "Factory Driver" challenges that involved 360s and 180s and driving backwards. I'm also thinking about trying to install Grand Prix Legends. I was never very good at it, but it was still fun. |
That game was a lot of fun. I think we had a Rennlist based tournament a few years back where we would play each other online.
I haven't played games in a long time, but the last race simulator I really liked was GTR. The new Need for Speed: Shift is supposed to be quite good. http://www.wired.com/images_blogs/ga...fsshift2_2.jpg |
Need for speed in general sucks compared to Forza.... Just FYI....
|
My 3 year old plays it quite a bit.

I haven't had or played a game console in a LONG time. I just don't play games often enough to justify one, and if I got one, I might end up playing more games than I should. That's why I don't get to play the various Forza type games that have come out for the consoles in the last several years.
Yeah, I have GTR burned to disk too. I wonder if they ever came out with the classic version that they were supposed to be making? |

Forza III RULES

We had some good times, didn't we?

I have NFS Porsche Unleashed for PS1 that I used to play on my PS2 and it was decent. I got really good at it. I have GT Legends for PC that I used to play with a wheel. Also cool. You could download car files from a game with modern cars (forget the name) from the same company and drive them in that game on those track. You could also download tracks like the Nordschleife. Maybe I will set that up today...
|
Yeah, I remember we had a few races to on the 11 of September in the 90's. Learned how to drive a 914 online.....still go the disc somewhere...

I am pretty proud:

I still play NFS 5 when I can. The graphics never where top notch, but they made a fun game. that got me interested in Porsche's as a teenager, I can put a lot of the blame of a Porsche being my first car on NFS5.

The brings me back memories of playing the first version of Test Drive. It looks like hes having a good time. My friend and I had a race one time that ended up in a demolition derby in NFS:PU. I play NFS:PU sometimes. Its still a fun game.

i play NFS porsche on PC>..love it...
i suck but love it. |
I played NFS-Porsche Unleashed on the PC when it came out. Completed all the driver assignments, or whatever they were. It was one of the better racing sims for the time -- still holds up by today's standard as well.
Actually, a couple of weeks ago, I started playing again NFS-Porsche unleashed for the Gameboy Advance. Not as functional as the PC game, but still tons of fun. The evolution section is amusing. (I'm up to the Boxster tourney) -Z-man. |
Tried out the NFS shift demo on the ps3 today with my son. We had the logitech wheel doing the paddle shift on manual. Holly schpoop I like it, definitely asking Santa for that one.

I still have NFS:PU, but haven't played in a while. I stumbled across R-Factor, which had a lot more tracks though much less variety in Porsches. R-Factor has a real nice Nurburgring, and there are a few of the newer 911s available. There's nothing like racing an old 356, but the 'Ring is a lot of fun, too.
I haven't played anything in a long time, though -- just too busy with the real world. Maybe when I have kids... Dan |

I loved that game, but it's been handily surpassed by many newer games.
|
I recently played it again just to see the cars they included in the game.
I find it funny that they exclude all of the water cooled cars such as the 924, 944, and 928. I do like this version of the NFS game. It was before all of the ricer versions came out with drifting and drag racing. |
I fired up NFS yesterday, it was fun, nothing more nothing less. If I wanted dead accurate driver simulation I would have just gone for a drive in my .... car.

If you play the "Evolution" mode, there are actually a lot of 944 and 944 turbo race serieseseseses. |
