Jordi, I thought about you, but by the time I was in Vegas, I was getting itchy to get home before dark, which I missed by about 45 min. I have a business conf. there in mid-Jan. and might bring the wife out to stay for the weekend. I was jonesing for dim sum yesterday, but it seemed so wasteful to go alone.

Jordi,

Have had one flight to Zimbabwe. That was all it took for me. Mugabe needs to be drawn and quartered, then left to rot, then maybe I will return.

I always think of Rick's crazy adventures when I'm enduring my boring/cushy existence. :)

BTW, I'm riding my bike to my conference in Vegas in Jan. Just realized we're there the exact same days as the SHOT show, the organizer of which is a good client and friend. This is gonna be a good one.

Steve, if you commit to 1000 miles per month on your bike, I can assure you, you'd run into some adventure doing that. I can go for weeks at a time without putting more than 30 miles on my bike and that's 15 trips of two miles each or really 30 of one mile and then back home again. And then I get a business trip to LA or a long weekend and get to rack up some mileage. Will probably ride to LA for business again in three weeks. And where the hell is Nostatic these days?

Since it looks like I'm never going to find a new job with another agency, I might find myself in Phoenix again...maybe January. Where can I rent a bike? I'll bring my gear and we can ride for a while.

Rick Lee 11-24-2009 06:02 PM

The local dealer rents BMW's, Triumphs and Ducatis. I'm sure there are plenty around here that do it.

Jan is a good time to head this direction. Gives you six months to get settled in before the "oven" turns on...

Back to the thread for a minute, can you imagine how different the original story would have been if you were in the Porsche instead of on the Bimmer?

Or, if you were on a Harley instead.

The first scenario, the can of gas would have been 250 bucks instead of 40.

The second scenario, the gas would have been free, and he might of even let you have a go at the old lady, if he could ride your scooter up and down the highway!

Actually, I was in Vegas a few weeks ago, I was in the 993 and lost downshifting from 6th-5th-4th. I was very worried, but I was on Rt. 95 near Searchlight and knew I had a good 45 min. of cruising at 90mph in 6th to figure out a solution. I called Jordi who said the local dealer was pretty good. Called them. But they said they might be able to take a look on Monday. No dice. I made it there and home, but tranny is coming out soon for a teardown.
