new motherboard problem blue screen
my lenova [ibm] i7 computer took a surge from lightning
it killed the mother board so I bought a used azus board with i3 and two vidio cards set up the system in a new bigger case with the i3 and one vidio card it worked fine so I put the i7 chip in other then a small message [this is not a lenova system] click ok and the message goes away and system runs normally BUT every now and then I get a freeze to blue screen problem report is Log Name: System Source: Microsoft-Windows-WER-SystemErrorReporting Date: 8/26/2015 10:44:14 AM Event ID: 1001 Task Category: None Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: RR-THINK Description: The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. Are the video cards built into the board? If so, either make sure you have the right drivers, or disable the onboard and use external cards.

Is the board rated for an i7 chip?
If a power surge took out the logic board then the processor is also suspect. YMMV.

If it were me, I would try and switch back to the i3 chip and see if it still bsod's. If it is stable for a few days, you know the i7 probably got toasted.

Did you bring the memory over from the old board? If so, run a memory test.
