I Miss Smoking...

I miss smoking. I haven't smoked ciggs in 23 years, went from a 3 pack a day habit to 0 and stayed that way but I do have to say...I did like the way it made me feel and the taste.

Sitting at the table, drinking a cup of coffee, steaming down a butt, reading the paper or talking. Or at a bar, having a beer or a glass of scotch. Or after a really good, fattening meal. Or after a good humpfest. Or on a cold, cloudy afternoon - outside, taking a break.

There is not a day that goes by that I don't want to light up but I don't because I know that those darn things will kill me faster than any other legal habits.

I really miss it.

I miss smoking a pipe. I quit for the same reason you did.

Nowadays people can't even smoke in bars around here. They stand outside in the rain. Kinda takes the fun out of it..

Good for you guys for sticking with it.

I quit 6 years ago and do not miss it. I only smoked about 2 packs a WEEK so I was a lightweight.

One of the reasons I don't go to bars is because I know that if I get a few drinks in me and someone offered me a smoke I would probably take it.

Cigs are around $6.00 a pack here in MI so I don't know how anyone affords to smoke anymore.

I thank my momma for encouraging me never to start smoking.
You can still try an electronic cigarette: Electronic Cigarettes Inc.

Quit almost two years ago. Zero desire to smoke again. I'll even take a drag off of the barmaid's smoke every once and a while for fun. No desire at all.

Lube,

Try a nice cigar from time to time. Not the same but sure is nice with a snort of scotch later on at night...

I miss it too Mike, I know what you are talking about. A good cup of coffee, a cigarette and a something to read, or talking with friends.

Have not smoked in 10+ years, but I miss it sometimes too.

I quit 3 packs a day cold turkey, I knew I had it beat within a couple of hours. For 5 plus years I was smoke free, then took a job that flew me through the Caribbean so I bought a few cubans then a few more and now I've gotta quit cigars, try and stay away at all costs. the people that smoke 3-4 butts a day make me sick with envy, I just can't do it like that, Quitting next week again

Coming from a long time now ex-smoker, if you knew how disgusting and truly revolting it smells you would quit. Hope this helps!

I quit two packs of Marlboros a day in 1976 and yet if I had a few in a bar I would likely start smoking again(though my wife would likely kick my a** out the door!).

I smoked 1-2 packs a day way back when. Musicians have to smoke, right?

I quit in '84. Haven't smoked since. And in fact being around smokers can make me gag a little. Nothing ruins the smell of a good cup of coffee like the stench of a cigarette. Nothing ruins the wonderful aromas from a good meal like the stench of a cigarette.

Sorry, no up-side other than making it seem like you look cool.

Not a musician but I was a bartender for many years. Smoked 1 pack/2 days and on 'bad' days 1 pack in a night. Marlboro red - box. This went on for 10+ years and started when I did an exchange student program in college that took me to Cambridge UK for 8 months. I loved smoking. Loved the smell, the look, the smoke, all of it.

Fast forward to today. I quit cold turkey 15+ years ago. However, until just a few years ago, I would buy a pack and smoke a couple when I was on work travel back East. Now I'm feeling my age and I have watched several friends die from cancer. I have lost a grandfather, 4 uncles, and 2 aunts to cancer. I have zero urge to smoke these days. I hope this feeling lasts the rest of my life. The weak moment for me is in a bar after a couple drinks. Smoking sucks large.

Quitters never win!

I'm at about 6 'grits a day for the last 6 years. Hate myself all the time for it.
