Thunderbowl - Carpinteria
 

Recently my sister and I have been going thru some old super 8 video we had transferred to digital that my Grandparents and parents took. Mostly family stuff and lots of surfing at the Ranch.
This clip took me by surprise and come to find out my grandfather was #149. This was an old circle track on some farmland in Carpinteria, CA. just south of Santa Barbara from what my dad told me.
Thought some of you would get a kick out of some of the footage and might even be able to provide more info. My dad said he ran this track when he was 12 or 13 with his brother. The good old days, as long as you could reach the pedals and see over the steering wheel you could drive.

I came across your video and at the 1:00min mark is a car my grandfather Bill Thompson used to pit for. I have a picture of him with the car at the track. I’ll try and post it. If anyone has any info about it let me know. Thank you.
