PC Question: How do you save your Outlook Express info? IE: Addresses, e-mails...
I'm going to be getting a new computer and I need to transfer my Outlook Express info to the new computer. |
Do you have an Exchange server? If so, it will all be there when you set up your new computer.
If not...I have no idea. |
No? Just a Dell home PC.

Just did it this week. If you have Windows 7, follow this:
Finding your applications in Windows 7 - Windows Live Outlooks express is not available for Windows 7. They want you to use Windows mail live. I tried it and found it quite slow....Still have it loaded, but trying Thunderbird also.......G'luck. |
Look for a folder buried deep on your computer, something like....
C:\Documents and Settings\your-name\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{D6E50080-B42B-443D-AA6A-0DF99A}\Microsoft\Outlook Express That string of numbers will be different and of course the mane of the person using the computer. That is where it is in XP. |

The files are located:
C:\Documents and Settings\{user name}\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{here you will find a very strage folder name}\Microsoft\Outlook Express The folders in blue are hidden files |

Good opportunity to start using Gmail.
Transfer your Outlook Express files to Win7 then setup a Gmail account. Gmail will ask you if you want to import any Outlook files. If you used Gmail, then there is never a need to transfer anything. Your contacts and email are accessible from any computer or smart phone. Actually a better way would be to create a Gmail account on the old computer, export your info from OE to Gmail then you do nothing on the new 7 machine. |
