I would only consider mixed loads for home defense......for a carry weapon with 5 shots....everyone will be ahot load..

You guys are much nicer than me. I don't want to scare anyone...if i'm pointing a gun at them and have to shoot i am not going to be taking any prisoners.

I want the most lethal ammo i can get for every shot.

Of course opinions vary, this one is just mine. :D

Still available, boys and girls....let's send Mikey to Camp and get one less weapon out of his hands.....

I was looking at the Taurus "Judge" .45 and 410 pistol.

I agree... If I am going to draw I want the best and I'm not going to stop shooting until I run out of ammo....

Amongst the enthusiasts, what is the opinion of the Taurus brand? Good quality? Poor? Indifferent?

Another trick is to load the first two chambers with birdshot, then .38's in the next two and the last two .357.

Birdshot will not kill anyone, but they will know they are not wanted there. Should some silly relative or neighbor be in the house, they will still be alive.

Should it be someone with "less than good intentions" then the next four rounds will go by fast.

That's why I use rubber buck shot for my first two loads.

I suggest you shoot a .410 pistol before you choose. They are wrist busters.

Mike, I'm interested in your S&W but I'm used to paying less than than new wholesale for a used gun (unless it's a Woodsman or something, I'd gladly give what one sold at retail).

No experience owning one...but for some time, when S&W caved to the gun grabbers, the NRA was suggesting member who were thinking S&W buy Taurus instead.

I've known a few people with em and never heard anything bad... I think my old man may have a .357 but I don't remember if it is Taurus or Arminius....

Believe that Taurus is made from the old S&W machines in S. America. Once upon a time S&W had a factory in Brazil and believe that it was nationalized (read siezed by the govt) and from then on the pistols were called Taurus brands.

Should be the same (more or less) quality as a S&W but made in Brazil. Oh yea, as well a bit cheaper.
