Advantage Arms .22 conversion for my Glock... I am liking it!
Just got my new Advantage Arms LE .22 conversion kit (which I paid too much for on Gunbroker
 ) for cheap IDPA practice with my Glock 34 9mm. After maybe 300 rounds of Remington Golden Bullets (one of AA's recommended ammo types). I have only had 3 instances of a round hanging up on the feed ramp...... much better than I expected.I installed a spare set of my Sevigny/Warren type sights that I made a while back and sighted it in using a vice at 25 yards. It was initially grouping at maybe 2.5", but I think it may be getting slightly better as it has started to break in. The trigger pull once take-up is removed is a bit longer and grittier than my 34 slide. I should be able to shorten this distance by simply grinding a bit of the striker hood off as it protrudes about .015" more than the stock Glock striker. The grittiness is due to the striker spring riding in a roughly machined metal hole vs the Glock striker spring riding in a plastic sleeve.... might be able to smooth it up a bit later. The trigger pull measures 5.5 lbs vs 3.8-4 lbs with my 34 slide installed. "Might" be able to lighten the striker spring a tad, but probably not as these conversions are often kind of finicky. The slide is standard Glock 17 length which is shorter than my 34 slide, but will be good for practice. The assembled gun also weighs about 1/2 lb less with the aluminum based .22 slide, but that should not hurt me when switching to the heavier more stable 34 set-up. The lightweight aluminum slide actually produces a decent recoil (need some recoil to make practice more realistic) which is not as stout as the stock 9mm, but is substantially greater than my Ruger target pistol. It will be nice to spend the winter firing thousands of .22 shells at $15/box of 550 vs $10/$15 per 50 of 9mm. On top of the cost savings, I don't need to worry about collecting/my brass like I have been during my 9mm practice sessions.

I paid $100 dollars over list price from a dealer on GunBroker that must get trickles of inventory from Advantage Arms. My kit had a 9/09 build date. Guys have been snapping these up as IDPA competiton training tools since ammo has become so scarce/expensive. Ciener (sp?) makes a kit also, but it does not have a last round slide lock feature and will not accept standard mounting type Glock sights. AA also makes a "target" version that is a bit easier to find than the LE kits. It is the same barrel but has built non Glock like sights.
