I'm being sent to Campinas, Brazil tomorrow night~

I've never been to South America. I lived in Puerto Rico for 9 months, and I have flown all over the Caribbean sea. I got nothing of the place, thought it was dirty and dangerous.

Well, tomorrow night I fly to Sao Paulo, Brazil. I just had an old friend and his new wife from Colombia at my house the past week; We took my boat on the 10 mile-tour to downtown Ft.Lauderdale and back, tying up for dinner. He tells me that Brazil is a place to be CAREFULL. Argentina, specifically Buenos Aires is pretty good, along with Santiago, Chile. Funny thing: Those are the three cities I'm going to visit twice this next week.

I won't see anything other than the airports. But Campinas? Does anybody know anything about this place?

N!

Been there a few times (spend almost two years running South America), REALLY nice place (or it was about 8 years ago) a quick Wikipedia Campinas - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Spend a little time as possible in Sao Paulo and be around with locals, enjoy the best seafood in the world in Santiago and the view of some of the best female anatomy in Buenos Aires.

My brother went there last year for a conference. He says don't wonder around, especially around the outskirts of the hotels. That is where the bad guys want your wallet and will cut your throat without a single thought.

Jebus, an eminence front? Columbian visitor, Brazil, airport only.... I don't think you should be advertising this. On the other hand, it explains a lot, a whole lot.

I love Brasil. If I went there when I was 20 I would have never returned. Yes, it's dangerous, but the beauty, wonderful people, caipirinhas, best looking girls in the world. Ah, Brasil...

I know aa few former coworkers from Ford who visited there on business several times and they enjoyed the place, especially the food. any place can be "dangerous" if you're not careful. But then again, I live in the Detroit suburbs...

Fantastic, been to both places for work, BA is amazing great steaks and beautiful women, Brazil, beautiful women and amazing people.
However be carful in Brazil, a well known guy in my business went to shoot a job, there was a very attractive girl who is kind of hanging around the set, next to his monitor, they start chatting, one thing leads to another, she stays with him 9 days, he works they have fun with the US and local film crew at night etc, the morning he is leaving the Police show up with the girls 'parents' he is arrested, parents claim the girl is 'underage' light weight creative soul gets carted off to Brazilian prison ! Police tell the producer the 'family will accept $15,000 USD from the production to drop the charges. Of course Producer authorizes payment, he is released, a friend of mine was on the lighting crew, he has pics of the 'girl' with crew, no one ever thought she was young, apparently its a well known local honey trap scam for businesses doing work there, the 'Police' are in on it.
Otherwise both Argentina and Brazil are amazing places.
Enjoy

Wondering around the outskirts or countryside without good solid known local assistance/guide is asking for trouble, it is not when it will happen but where it will happen. The trouble comes in many forms from simple robbery to kidnapping or worst. If you stay in the major business areas and avoid placing yourself in "alone" situations you will be fine. Having said be careful or you might bring back more than you want, and I don't mean someone wanting to go to the land of the "big PX".
