Chrysler TC by Maserati

There's an '89 with only 73K miles on it near me for pretty cheap. I tend to gravitate to oddball cars and am contemplating getting this one. Anyone ever had one of these? Pros/Cons, Likes/Dislikes. I realize with only 7300 of these ever made, getting parts for it may be a challenge.

They were junk I their day let alone in 2012. Remember it combined two horrible "experts" with the Chrylser body and Maserati engine. Maserati designs beautiful bodies and Mopar makes powerful engines - on the TC they each built what they are worse at.

Just google imaged it... not a bad looking car... I seem to remember them not getting great reviews.

The one I saw on google was selling for $2000

I seem to remember it using a Chrysler engine with a Maserati designed head and cams, but only on the few they made with the 5-speed manual. The much more plentiful auto transmission cars had regular Chrysler engines.

You said "odd" not "garbage", right? Halfway kidding here, but parts will not be easy to get and the end result is pretty pathetic (just my opinion)...

Friend of mine had two of them. They rusted terribly and the electrics were crap. Getting spare parts is very difficult and have to come by boat from Italy.

IMHO if its selling for more than the scrap price would run from it.

The valve covers were Maserati.

The engines were Chrysler (and Misubishi the last year). The early cars had Cosworth heads though.

The Chrysler engines were assembled by Maserati, though.

No Maser engines.

I like odd cars, too, and have owned more than a few.

That car, though . . . gotta say can't see any appeal at all in that.

Not a Maser engine. Chrysler and Mitsubishi engines.

Wow, thanks for all the input. Kinda what I expected to hear.

Perhaps I'll start looking for a Subaru SVX instead
