hood shocks/struts

Anybody know where I can buy generic hood struts in a specific size and extension, rather than for a particular application? (IE - Ford Focus, Chevy Malibu etc - like all the ones on the 'bay are listed)

I need a pair for my camper shell, I'd like the replacements to be slightly longer, and I would like to save a little money at the same time.

Thanks in advance

An auto parts store might be able to look them up like that.

Heck, they might even have some on the shelves you could measure yourself.

I did a search because I couldn't remember the name of the struts that I used to sell when I worked at an auto parts store.

According to one website, three of the big names in hood struts are Sachs, Strong Arm and Piston. I'd try to see if you can find a parts store that's got a paper catalog for any of those three or possibly look online. I'd think that someplace, the measurements for closed length, open length and the strength of the charge should exist.

Stut supplier

I used

Strut -Wise

very helpful, just tell them your space dimensions and holding power and mounting and they will supply you what you need.
