Lightening up to MarkZ

I guess I just do not know how to fool around and have this type of fun. Enough said. I am done.

If you guys knew the times that Mikez is facing, you might understand why he might be a little "pi$$y" lately.

I spend a fair amount of time on the tech side and the other forums. Just like a family, we can all be a little testy, some days more than others.

I thought Mike's reply was funny and that's why I made a comment on that thread.

Man don't leave the forum just b/c of one Douche nozzle... Especially considering you weren't involved in the original fight...

For my two cents worth, it comes across sort of rude sounding when someone barks out the words "Search," "Search Engine" or "Search Button" when typing on a keyboard. Maybe they don't mean it to be - maybe they do - but it bothers me when I see people slam someone who asks a question with the words "Search Button/Engine/Feature" as the reply.

If their questions bothers a body so much, ignore it and go on with your day. Life's too short.

I wouldn't know Mike if he walked in here right now, well, maybe if he was wearing the Mouse ears, but generally I like to read his comments.... for the laughs, like so many other here.

If everyone were as rigid as some like to act this place would be no fun.

Actually I'm mounting a campaign to rename the center mounted fuel filler "Der Douche Nozzle" as a lasting tribute to all posting in the thread in question. Sounds Teutonic....sorta like "Druck Press."

"Ja, Gunter...bitte checken der douche nozzle will I nicht das druck press."

I agree that mikez was being a douche, but if you get your panties that twisted over some jag-off bashing your beloved new yawk, then I can't really help you. Life is too short to get angry on the internet.

Do you feel that manners and civility are out of place on this forum?

Best,
Tom

Attitude because of the circumstances, or circumstances because of the attitude?

That is not for me to decide but having been in a similar situation to Mike, you can turn crabby really fast.

I'll let Mike give you his opinion on his situation, if he chooses.

An astute observation.

Never met Mikey, but in my minds eye he probably has a bit of Col. Jessup's persona...

Man, I arrived at this party too late - looks like a lot of juicy stuff has been removed from the closed thread. But still, what's left over still has some funny stuff.

Anyone who thinks that thread was harsh should spend some time in PARF to develop a thicker skin.

Sounds like Mike maybe jumped the gun a little, but seriously, do you not think a guy with 14 THOUSAND posts hasn't figured out the search function yet? Not that post count equals automatic respect, but really. Chances are he's tried that already and it didn't work.

The other thing was that one or two of the posters giving him some trouble were very low number posters.

When someone with 300 total posts acts like "Gods gift to PPOT" and goes after someone who has been here a long time... well, they better be right or they are going to get both barrels in reply.

Agree that he has been "testy" lately. When he realizes that its costing him friends maybe things will change.

I know I'm beginning to souund like a paid advocate for Mikez (I can assure you I'm not), but in the original thread Mike asked about examples of thru the hood fuel fillers where the fuel tank itself was not modified; i.e., the modification was tied into the existing filler neck. Some poster popped off with something like "Do a search" and nothing else. Mikez retorted with the now infamous "douche nozzle" tirade and pointed out he had been a Pelican for a gazillion years, he had already tried the search, yadadadada. It degenerated into a left coast/right coast beyotch fest. Kinda funny in a way.

Some people posted links to threads, none of which were on point to Mike's original query. I personally remembered a recent thread that was right on point but I could not remember whose car it was. Despite searching myself, I couldn't find it with logical search terms. Then I remembered it was juicersr's thread on "Targa to Sicily" where I saw something similar to what Mike was asking about. Posted the thread for Mike to see. Now way it could have been found with routine search terms.

This diatribe on Mike got me to thinking...WWMD? (What Would Mikey Do?) So I did my own search of Mikez's posts where he used the word "Search." As in telling someone to use the search function.

To my suprise, Mikez has used the word "search" in 67 of his 14,000+ posts. Some are not related to telling a poster to use the serach function...however many are.

After reviewing 20 or so of the ones where mike told someone to use the search function, I found a definite trend. Mike tried to help the person with the question posed and the search. Often he would give info and if he didn't quite have the answer being sought he would make suggestions. The following is a typical Mikez comment suggesting someone use the search function:

Originally posted by Mikez on 4/17/06:

"Pressure should not hit zero at idle and should follow the rpms.

Also....if you look from the passenger side of the steering wheel BACK at the oil temp gauge....most likely you will see tiny numbers. Most of the time the range is in Celsius....I used to have a pic. I'll look around but if you do a search it will probably pop up in an older thread...

The numbers are under the inside bezel.

Temps....

180F good
180-220, normal
220-250, warm
250-280, hot
280-300, real hot
300-350 too freaking hot
350+, get yer check book out....."

The above response from Mike was to a very mundane operating temp question. A lot different than just responding with "Search function?"

Now do you understand why Mike went off on the douche nozzle? FWIW, the right coasters hung in there pretty well. I would score it a draw.

Mike's still a curmudgeon, tho....
