MAC are good tools...did you check their website to find a new price? Click type Torque wrenches are a bit scary tho...despite the ad comments, they can be off in their readings.

My Craftsman lasted about 2 years. If you're gonna go cheap, get the HF version. Same crappy Chinese quality, at a fraction of the cost.

AH. ...my Craftsman torque wrench is about 30 y/o. (no plastic)

I guess that they don't make them like they used to.

MAC tools are professional grade, they're every bit as good as Snap On.

I had these folks calibrate two wrenches for me last year - I also bought a perfect used pro wrench (calibrated) from them for a great price.

Can't answer the OP's question, but I'm not a fan of the Craftsman series. I have had two. One has lasted about 6 or 7 years. The other about 6 or 7 uses...and then it broke...just a couple months after the one-year warranty expired. I now have an expensive paperweight in the garage.

Have never seen a Skidmore that indicates tensions as low as these wrenches high end..

Get a beam type wrench, cheap, accurate, last forever.

True...as long as your torquing allows seeing the beam wrench needle, they work fine...

I have the Craftsman one and while I have never been disappointed with Craftsman hand tools, I am not a fan of this torque wrench. 100-110-120 ft-lbs are on the shaft and 0 through 10 are on the twist grip but the 0's on the grip never line up with the multiple of 10's on the shaft. In fact on mine they are dead in the middle so when I see a 0, I never know if I am at, say, 100 or 110 ft-lbs. It lines up between the two.

I found the "made from Germany" comment in the description funny. Disregard.

Any professionals here? What's your opinion on split-beam torque wrenches (like the Stahlwille in the link.)
