I learned this word in high school when I had to take a sample of my gf's dress to a florist to have her match the corsage for the prom. It's a light purple. And I'm embarrassed to know this.

Mauve is a purple base with a hint of soft grey.
Not to be confused with a Dusty Rose and/or Taupe. :)
