I say go to the doctor. I suspect a warm moist compress would be good for the area of the bite.
Did you pull the tick off, or did you coax him out somehow? It is possible the head of the tick was retained, broke off in your ass, so to speak. I don't think I have ever seen a tick on a person.

Not a lot of ticks where I have lived for pretty much my entire life. I have gone camping plenty of places. I seriously have never seen a tick on a person.

If you burn them with a cigarette they let go.

Wiki says to pull 'em straight out with pliers. I've heard put on a glob of vasaline to smother 'em first.

I've lived in the house I'm in now for about 12 years and we've had dogs pretty much the entire time. For the first 8 or 9 years I never saw a tick. All of a sudden a few years back, they were constant. We'd check the dogs after ever trip out to do their business (inside dogs 98% of the time).
I've done some research on getting ticks off. They say NOT to use a cigarette or vaseline. The reason is that the tick may regurgitate into the wound on his way out which, as you can imagine, is not the best way to avoid disease. Also, if you squeeze them with pliers, that's kind of the same. That pretty much guaranties that you're emptying the contents of the tick into the wound. You're supposed to use really fine pointed tweezers and get them parallel to the skin as close to the skin as possible. ![]() http://www.essortment.com/all/tickremoving_rzop.htm

I have had a tick borne disease. On average I get one deer tick bite a month for the last 10 years. I heard that only 10% of deer ticks carry a disease and the tick has to be attached for more that 24 hrs to transmit the disease. So chances are you don't have a disease (at least not from the tick)
![]() And use your fingers to remove a tick. Although some ticks are so small that a woman's fingers work better

A rash doesn't always form. It's kind of a pretty serious sign... but not an absolute.

the bump MAY be local irritation. I've had one of those bumps on my leg for months but my blood work is normal. Get a blood test.

Yeah, go see a Dr. My girlfriend has had Lyme's disease, and it is not good. She still suffers from the arthritis like symptoms.
