My dog has cancer

I just found out today that my dog has cancer. She goes in tomorrow morning for surgery. I guess it would be the equivalent of a doggie masectomy. My wife had taken her in the day before yesterday to have the lump biopsyed. I was really hoping for better news. We lost our last two dogs (both weimaraners) to cancer a few years back. I'm not ready to lose another one. This dog (Snap) is the best dog we have ever had. Smart, obedient, friendly, great with my daughter, and a fantastic companion.
I just thought I would share and hope that if any of you out there could say a little prayer for her it would be greatly appreciated.
Here are a few pics of my special little gremlin.

Did the vet use the term "mast cell tumor"? We had one removed from our much loved cat about 3 years ago. We recently discovered she may be growing another...vet saying wait & see because the growth is small right now.

We're having a debate about whether we want to put her though the surgery thing agin. She had a miserable recovery period...

Good luck with "snap"...

Awe man...here we go again. Why are we all losing our dogs? Is it our age group or what?

You have my highest hopes, and deepest sympathy. This is like losing kids. Best of luck . We all here will be lighting candles for you.

We did that for our first dale Harry. We pledged to ourselves we would never do it again. They know when it's time to go. They will tell you somehow, in their own speak. Harry even dug a big hole in the back yard and was lying in it for a week before I had to put him down.

+1 on your thoughts on " When does quality of life come into play?" It's a hard decision to make. I had to make it myself just 20 days ago.

Good luck to you & Snap... looks like a wonderful healthy dog, hopefully she responds to treatment!

Our old buddy Chance has a lump in his neck and lost weight. Looks like thyroid cancer. They tried to do a biopsy but his vitals dropped so bad they had to stop... almost lost him then & there. The vet said he is too old for anything drastic, the best thing we can do is let him be and spoil him rotten as long as his quality of life is reasonable.

Breaks my heart every time I look at him, but he is so damn dumb and happy. bah.

Anyway, fingers crossed. It's hard, that's for sure, but man... PPOT has some lucky dogs, and lucky owners.

Just an FYI, she is not named "Snap" because of the breed. "Gingersnap" is closer, per her color. She is a Boxer/Pitbull mix.
Hours to go before we have to take her in. I am stressing big time! Too much other Scheicht going on right now!
I'll keep you all posted on her condition.
Mr. Elliott (her cat, best friend) will be there to take care.

Hope things are going well.

We lost one of our older guys a few weeks ago to liver cancer. It was hard to watch him go.

Best of luck.
